Review: Very beautiful Series - the camera work, the beautiful way this is filmed and the excellent commentary make this a wonderful set for those that like nature shows. the 4K and HDR really make the shows look very vibrant and very enjoyable to watch. I did have one issue with all the discs my 4K blue ray set playing in my LG UBK90 player. The sound would not play on the shows but was playing on the intro sequence and the main menu screen. I called LG for help, thinking it was a problem with how the player was dealing with the audio on the disc. I have a sound bar with optical connection to the tv set. with the players audio output in the player's settings set to auto, no sound on the features shows with these discs, if the output was changed to PCM audio the discs worked as expected. The LG tech was not sure if it was my set up, a flaw in the players software or the way the discs were mastered by the BBC. I am not taking away from the rating or saying you shouldn't buy this in 4K, just putting out this little problem with my player and the work around used incase others have the same problem. Review: Stunning Visuals - This DVD set takes you beneath the surface of the oceans, rivers and other places that water-dwelling creatures live and gives you riveting sights of all that dwell below. These DVDs are beautiful to watch and truly educational. My daughter enjoys watching the various creatures that the photographers and videographers follow. You learn so much about the various animals that call the oceans home and how they live and survive. It is truly gripping and my young daughter loves watching it. You get to see the struggles that some of the animals go through to surive, the things that they must accomplish and how they live. I loved every second of it. BBC creates such beautiful shows and this one is no exception. If you are looking for something that is both beautiful, educational and engaging then this is the DVD to get and watch. You will not be disappointed.

Stunning, amazing and beautiful
I fired up these 4k discs on my new 4k player and my old UHD TV. My socks were knocked off - clean across the house. Lauds to the BBC for shelling out for this project, and seeing it through with such brilliance and photographic genius. The UHD mastering is superb, and the narration by the venerable Sir David Attenborough is first rate. It is nearly mind-boggling to imagine all the hard work, endurance, technical skill, and production brilliance that had to have gone into this. This is a must see for all earthlings, humanoid or otherwise.

How did they get these shots???
Each episode blew me away! One particular episode showed a humpback whale and I've never seen one besides on YT videos and, by gosh, my jaw dropped and I was genuinely terrified and mystified by the pristine picture! This is what TV was made for, I think. Incredible footage and that's an understatement. There were points where it was literally hypnotic. I do wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Excellent series all around. Just really great stuff.

Would be better without the distracting music
Beautiful video, but this would be much better without the distracting background music. I have no idea what the people who add the music into the soundtrack are thinking. Like, does the pounding surf need an orchestral highlight? Dolphin sounds without audio tones are not enough for us? In the best parts the music is minimized. I find the production better if I turn the sound down, or even off with the subtitles on. Then it can be watched without the audio interference. Harder to hear the narrative however. It is unfortunate that they do not have a no music track.

4K version is a reference set to test your 4K TV
So far, In my humble opinion, I'd use these three 4K BluRay movies as a reference to test my 4K TV, AV Receiver, cables and audio: 1. Blue Planet 2 (BP2) 2. Planet Earth 2 3. The Martian BP2 is perfectly filmed. The colors are brilliantly enhanced and the resolution is, indeed, eye-popping. One of the best features is their slow-motion clips. They must have used a ton of frames to make the slow motion this high resolution with very little grain and extremely smooth, yet retaining every inch of resolution. This set of discs are truly reference model for the 4K system. Bravo!
