LOVE IT!
I purchased this as a total beginner so I could take my dog kayaking on lakes while on camping trips. It was easy to set up and very durable. I built a little custom-cut platform for the dog out of a doubled-up piece of deck foam to give her more grip and also to add more protection to the bottom from her nails even though that didn't seem like it was going to be a problem. We tried it out for the first time yesterday and it was really fun. I didn't use my new pump correctly (I kept shutting it off when the high-pressure sound came on because I thought something was wrong with the pump, haha!), so in the beach photo you can see that we actually did our test run underinflated. Amazingly it still worked fine like that for our practice trip, but next time we'll be able to inflate it properly and it should work even better. When this thing is fully inflated as recommended, it is super-tough and hard as a rock! SO NICE! Anyway, even though I had it underinflated it was still comfortably stable for a kayak, easy to maneuver, and tracked pretty well. I am in my 50's and was able to lift and carry it to and from the water by myself UNTIL the wind kicked up - THEN I had a really hard time walking with it. I think I will either look into getting a lightweight kayak cart for it, or if close enough to the water will just inflate it right at water's edge next time. Just one thing that is SUPER annoying... attaching the skeg. The skeg attachment has got to be the dumbest design EVER, and the documentation doesn't do a very good job at explaining it. The little plate and the screw could be lost SO EASILY while trying to get that stupid thing in or while removing it on a rocky, grassy, or sandy beach... are you kidding? I would remove one star for the ridiculous skeg attachment, but the rest of the boat is so awesome that I'll just leave it at 5-stars. The hand pump that I purchased for it wore me out so I exchanged it for an electric pump instead - WAY BETTER once I learned to use it correctly! I use a little Jackery 240 to power the pump, so I can pretty much inflate it anywhere. So now we are well on our way! Be prepared to spend more $ on good paddles and other fun gear like a dry bag, good pump, life vests, etc. HAVE FUN!
