World of Wong Kar Wai (Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

「欲望の翼」の台湾上映のときに流れたトニーレオンが居るオープニング映像が入っているらしいと聞いて購入しました。 オープニングだけでなくディレクターズカット版として編集バージョン違いの本編が全部入っていて驚きました。 その他の作品も特典映像がかなり充実しています。 今のところ欲望の翼と花様年華とブエノスアイレスしかまだ内容をチェックしていませんが、ブエノスアイレスの特典映像にはドキュメンタリー映画「ブエノスアイレス 摂氏零度」が全部入っていました。 花様年華にはこの映画に合わせて撮られたショートムービー、ミュージックビデオ、カットシーン全般、バージョン違いエンディング、トニーレオンとマギーチャンのインタビュー形式で振り返るカットされた2人のシーン(ホテルでダンスしてたりしててとてもかわいい)他にもインタビューがとにかくたくさん入っていてまだ全部見れていません。 他の映画もかなり特典が充実していそうな上にコレクションとして嬉しいお洒落な装丁とブックレット(ミニポスター付き)でこの値段は安いくらいだなと感じました。 ただディスクは紙に挟まっている形式なので出し入れしすぎると傷がつきそうでちょい不安です。 Blu-rayなので日本の機械でも問題無く再生出来ます。広東語には英語字幕がありますが英語には字幕が無いです。もちろん日本語字幕は無いです。 思い切って買って良かった商品でした。

PCに繋ぐBlu-rayプレイヤーでは問題なく再生できました。しかし、テレビ用のプレイヤーでは7本中2本しか再生できませんでした… 機械の問題でしょうか…？ 内容には大満足です！！！

クライティリオンから３月にリリースされたばかりの７枚組。 クライティリオンのセールに先駆けて米アマゾンでは今日（7月2日）から半額セールになってます。 米アマゾンで購入しても送料がかかるので１万３千円弱。 日本でこの値段（１万５千円）ならファンは買いだと思います。 追記：下に記載した他のレビューにもあるように私に届いたものにも以下の不具合があったので返品しました。 ①In the Mood for Love 1時間20分ごろから画像の乱れ・再生停止 ②Chungking Express30分ごろ画像の乱れ 特典映像10分ごろ画像の乱れ クライティリオンで購入したものの品質に問題があったのはこれで４度目です。（１つは収納ボックスの破損ですが）今回はクライテリオンが製造の品質管理を整えるのに時間がかかると考えて返品にしました。 米アマゾンの返金は手続きがそれなりに面倒なのでそれが億劫な方は半額セールはないですが国内での購入をお勧めします。 といっても私にはIn the Mood for Love、Chungking Express、2046以外は無くてもいいかなってとこなので１万５千円以上での購入は考えられないですが。 購入を検討されている方への注意 米アマゾンのレビューで報告されている点を幾つか挙げておきます。 購入判断の参考にしてください。 ・このボックスセットに収録されている映画をすでにご覧になったことがある方、またはよくご存知の方は、これまでのリリースとは異なるバージョンであることにご注意ください。ほとんどすべての映画は、監督によって何らかの変更が加えられています。 ・ディスクを収納するケースがハードボードではなく薄いので配送中にバラバラになっている場合がある。また収納するスロットのいくつかは適切に接着されておらず、ディスクは裏止めされずに取り出しにくい場合がある。 最近のクライティリオンのボックスセットはコストを最小限にするためなのか以前に比べてパッケージの材料を簡易化する傾向が見られます。 ・再生中にフリーズ・スキップする（特にSONYのプレーヤーとの相性が悪いようです） ・その他英語字幕が付いていないものが送られてきたケースもあるようです。 私の経験で言えば、Essential Felliniでオープニングの一部で映像がモザイクのようになる箇所がありましたし、 Portrait of a Lady on Fireのスタッフインタビューでも同じような箇所がありました。 Portrait of a Lady on Fireは交換を依頼し代替え品では現象が発生しないことが確認できています。 以前はこのようなことがなかったので製品の品質については改善して欲しいところです。

Soy del Sur de México. Llegó en perfecto estado. Los discos no 4k son región A, que está perfecto. Aparte llegó muy rápido y sin defectos la caja por dentro o por fuera. Recomiendo comprar.

Been longing for a Wong Kar Wai set like this. It's beautiful, it's immaculate, it's worth it!

I bought this set because it was advertised by Amazon as having English subtitles. None of the films had English subtitles. I clicked on subtitles in the disc menu. I chose subtitles ON and went to play each disc and there were no subtitles of any kind, except on the accompanying documentary in the additional materials. I can't begin to explain the horror of attempting to send this set back to Amazon in the USA from Australia. I had to drive 100 kilometres each way from home to the nearest Amazon agent ! I had gone on line before leaving home and the Amazon system had accepted my reason for returning the set and a return bar code had been generated for me to present to the agent who would then supposedly print me a label to put on the set to be accepted by the courier who would collect it from the agent. THE AGENT WARNED ME THAT THERE COULD BE PROBLEMS WITH THE BAR CODE I HAD BEEN GIVEN. On arriving at the agent's premises, the horror began ! The Amazon system would not accept the bar code which the Amazon system had generated. The agent said that he had warned me to be prepared for this before I left home 100 kilometres away. Eventually the agent was able to speak to someone in the Amazon system, who informed him THAT THE BAR CODE I HAD BEEN ISSUED WITH BY AMAZON actually an eBay return bar code AND IT HAD ALREADY BEEN USED ! After spending literally hours at the agents, trying to generate an appropriate label, but unsuccessfully, I managed to speak to someone in Amazon in the US who went away and intervened in the system which finally allowed the agent in Australia to generate a bar code. What has happened to the set since I left it at the agents to be sent back to the US I do not know. There has been no communication with me from Amazon. I had spent , concluding travel time , both ways, the best part of six hours dealing with this fiasco. The Amazon customer care person I dealt with in the States said to me that she wanted to consult her supervisor . She did, and came back and told me that they would like to offer me $20 for my trouble ! The contempt displayed to me, as an Amazon customer of many years standing, by this gesture left me speechless. Needless to say, I am still waiting for my refund. Perhaps they have sent into the eBay customer instead. Since writing this review, the set did get back to Amazon in the USA and I have been given a refund .

I won't go too much into the films. It's Wong Kar Wai. You're getting great value in this boxset. He's such a master of style and form. All these films are incredible (well, maybe not "As Tears Go By" but it's his first movie. He was still working out the kinks). This is pretty much the only way to get such films as "Chungking Express," "Fallen Angels," and "Happy Together," on Region A bluray at the moment. It's a good deal to get this director's entire oeuvre (minus "Ashes of Time" and "The Grandmaster"). But what I really want to go over is the packaging. It's such an aesthetic and I'm here for it! My first thought when opening it was, is this a bluray boxset or a Kpop album? Definitely looks more like the intricate packaging that the Korean boy and girl groups love to release their cds in than anything movie studios typically do with their special bluray editions. First off, there's no plastic. Nice, we love an eco-friendly packaging. What you get is an origami design where the book and disc holder is encased in an outer envelope shell. Same way a sticky rice cake would be wrapped in a banana leaf. Very minimalist and chic, if you vibe with that. It's sturdy cardboard with a nice matte texture. I don't think it will rip easily, but it definitely will be an undertaking to preserve this thing pristinely from dents and creases every time you handle it. Challenge accepted! So there's that. Secondly, the discs are each kept in its own individual pocket that you have to slide out of the folding cardboard case. The first time I took the discs out, I noticed a few of the discs had a tiny amount of sticky glue residue on the very edge of the disc from the cardboard panel of the case. It wasn't that hard to remove with some rubbing with a cloth. I also noticed one of my discs had some light scratches, however it didn't affect the playback any. Perhaps it would be wise if you bought an empty bluray case and just stored all the discs in that. Which brings me to my next point. This thing is bigger than a standard bluray, or even a dvd boxset. It's literally book size. It might be an issue looking out of place if kept with your other blurays, sticking out like a sore thumb. I haven't decided what to do yet about that. I might just keep the box itself with my other books on the shelf and transfer all the discs to an empty bluray case for ease of use and keep that along with the rest of my Blu-ray collection. Now, about the book. It's a French-fold book, which essentially looks like a long piece of paper folded outwardly widthwise and that uncut edge is just left like that. You think first looking at it that the printer forgot to slice the outer edge so the pages are all cut like a normal book. After all, the underside of the page isn't blank. There's an image you can see, kind of like a peek-a-boo surprise feature. However, it's supposed to be like that. It's aesthetic, it's fancy, it's unusual design, but just think about it. It is so Wong Kar Wai. I couldn't think of a more fitting detail for a film collection of his. So, highly recommend this just for the effort Criterion took to release packaging this unusual and stylish. A very fitting tribute to the aesthetic of a Wong Kar Wai film.
