NOYITO USB ASP ISP AVR Programmer Downloader for ATMEL Proccessors Drive-Free Over-Current Protection Red & Blue bi-Color Indicator with Aluminum Shell

Okay, so full disclosure, I bought this naively expecting it to work out of the box with AVRDUDE which is the most common programmer to use with AVR devices. I also wanted to work on my Mac. If you have similar expectations you will be hugely disappointed! According to what I have read(after paying for it and receiving it) this will only work with their own Windows based AVR programmer which is apparently a GUI (I had no intention of trying that out). Thanks to some google searches, I found a lot of decent material on how people had reflashed it with USBASP firmware to make it work like a USBASP device. This however will require you to open the aluminum case, bridge the two upload pins on the PCB (temporarily solder it or hold it in place with your fingers) and upload the USBASP firmware in it with, you guessed right, another AVR programmer! (I used my Arduino Uno in ISP mode). Only when you do all that successfully will that LED on this programmer glow blue (as in the picture I have uploaded) and not red as it comes out of the box. You will then be able to use it with AVRDUDE. I repeat, if you are planning to buy this to work with AVRDUDE then be prepared to put in all that work. Now that I have it working to my liking, I appreciate its aluminum casing, pretty sturdy and good looking and its awesome low price. Three stars for making me do all that work and not disclosing the AVRDUDE incompatibility!

I took away 3 stars because it was such a pain in the ass to figure out how to use it. It comes with USBHID firmware, which is incompatible with USBasp. You have to load USBasp firmware into it to make turn it into a real USBasp. Wasted a lot of time figuring this out, but the procedure is pretty easy if you already have another programmer or an Arduino.After you flash in the USBasp firmware, it works great, just like any other USBasp clone

The programmer is nicely packaged in aluminum, but the downside is there was not a 10 pin to 6 pin adapter for connecting to the ICSP port on my Arduino based 3D printer controller board. I had to purchase another item and wait for it to be fulfilled before I could actually use it.

This is junk ... It dosent work out of the box, don't expect this to work with avrdude, you'll have to flash this with custom firmware to get it working, which will need another isp, or an Arduino as an isp which defeats the purpose of buying this in the first place. The case is beautiful though ... Also connecting the power pin to another programmer cause the device to short somewhere, most likey this is a bad desing in their circuit

Not a real USBASP! It only reads as a USBHID. Don’t waste your time on this. Spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to make this work.
