What is the hold and shine on this?

No hold. Shine only day of application.

This product contains mineral jelly. Should I still use it on my new locs despite this ingredient?

I am not a seller but I observed with some people that has used it that I know and from my friend she have very dry dry hair now she use it on her hair I do not use it on mine her locks she used it to keep it the shine and the smell and she also use it on her scale it’s only for people that have very dry dry hair i’m not a hairstylist but I do observe that if you put too much oil into the hair would you don’t soak up it can close your pores in the scalp and draw a lot of dirt which lead to breakage but if you wrap your hair if it’s dry in your lot is dry soaking up a lot of oil is best observed how your hair takes it you will be the judge on how that works with your luxe on your hair and only you and your hair would also tell you it’s self if it’s good for your hair and if it’s bad trust me you will know just by how your hair will react to it the oil

can i use it as a hair gel for strong hold on short hair?

It is hair grease. It isn't a gel. If you just want to control frizzy, this may help. However, it doesn't hold a style. I really like it though. It strengthens my hair. The only thing that I don't like is that the ingredients are NOT organic.

What is mineral jelly?

I believe its a form a mineral oil only thicker. I love the way it makes my hair more manageable.
