Great product and color assortment
Bought for my husband who builds scale models, and he's able to create a lot of realistic finishes on his buildings.

WONDERFUL Inks
I ADORE Dr. Ph. Martin's inks. The colors are true to how hey appear in the bottle (once any sediment has been properly shaken up and suspended), truly waterproof, no fading. The ink doesn't run and bleed everywhere, it works with every nib I've tried (quite a range, every modern leonardt, almost every modern speedball, several others), and almost every paper (anything your nib scratches to bits is obviously out of the question). It is a thicker ink than many others you might find--it flows beautifully, smooth without breaks, but you don't want to, say, leave it in a roundhand nib with a reservoir untouched for ten minutes. It is ink. It will dry. But that just leads me to another plus--it's easy to clean out. Once dry it flakes off nibs at the touch of fingernail, not counting unfortunate grooves. It responds well to nib cleaning solution, abd of course when wet (again, not counting grooves where any ink would get stuck) it wipes right off with paper. I've also found that it come out of my scrap cloth with little effort, but don't go spilling it on your carpet or favorite white shirt and expect it to come out. I just mean that the scrap I use for cleaning isn't blackened from these. They also are wonderful in painting, and again waterproof, so you can do things like soaking a drawing in tea to make it appear aged without worrying about losing the drawing. And so many colors. I have four sets now, and a couple of additional bottles of the colors I use very often (black, blue, red, brown, gold). Really. I cannot recommend these inks enough. If you're not sure that you'll make use of all the colors (though I find that I discover uses once I have them), buying individual bottles is an excellent idea. I'm sure that once you try it you'll be as satisfied as I am. I welcome any questions.

These are brilliant colors! A drop goes a long way
These are brilliant colors! A drop goes a long way. They work well on mixed media paper and on photo paper. They do not work well on ceramic tiles and nonporous surfaces because they bead-up. I bought them to use in painting birds. It is a challenge to paint detailed work with alcohol ink, so i had hoped to switch to this medium. I have found that the front of photo paper works well and I have read where other folks like the back of the paper. I have mixed alcohol with the inks and found it to be quite effective and an inexpensive way to make alcohol ink without diluting the gorgeous color. Also, it is supposedly permanent ink; however, if you add alcohol to the ink, it is not. I bought set 1 and set 2. Great for painting my birds in making cards, not in making coasters.

I can't love these inks more.
Sorry, I'm a TRUE fan of this brand. These Inks are awesome, bright colors and amazing pigmentation, I bought both sets, and I'm thrilled to have them at the studio. I started using it immediately they came, and they are great. I was used to use black indian ink for ink washes, and I decided to try the colors, and I can't be more happy. Tip for mixed media painters: These Inks are permanent, if you're used to work with ink washes, these are a great medium to start any mixed media illustration, and set up your values as the underpainting, so if you later want to use gouache over it, you can do it without beaing worried of removing the underpainting. And, they're also amazing for glazing, and of course to paint a full illustration just with it.

Bleeds :(
I got this as a gift. I fell in love with this brand when i bought the gold and iridescent blue color from the store. They dont bleed and are beautiful. I was thrilled when i got all of these! When i first used them, they bled on paper where the iridescent colors never did. That was disappointing. The colors are pretty, but ill have to buy different paper to use them more. Ill will be getting the iridescent pack that they dont sell on Amazon. I love those for writing a lot more than this pack. These would probably be great for drawing and coloring.

This is a good product.
I'm not a professional inker. I bought these because I enjoy drawing with ink. I use a Hunt 102 nib on Strathmore Bristol. I find this ink flows well and yet stays on the nib better than the water based inks I've used previously. It dries relatively fast. It doesn't seem to spatter as much. The colors are quite vibrant. Why so many types of RED? Another shade of blue and green would have suited me better. Some of the earth tones need to be diluted or they all look almost black. I guess too much pigment isn't really a fair complaint.

Great product and amazing customer service
I’m excited to write this review because for starters I love these inks. I enjoy the colors and vibrancy but I have to rave about the customer service. There was a bit of an issue with my order that was a bit disappointing. I reached out to the merchant and they responded a lot faster than I expected. They were extremely kind and very apologetic about the issue. They wasted no time shipping out a fresh order and I can’t even express how grateful I am for the prompt response but also how quickly they jumped into action to resolve the issue. I felt even more confident about spending my money with them and I’d be glad to do it again, not only off the strength of the customer service but the products as well.

Christmas Surprise
I have dabbled in most forms of Art pretty much my whole 65 years. I saw the Bombay inks on Amazon and ordered sets 1 and 2. I am quite surprised at the saturation of color. I have only tested them as a line or two on paper so far, but at about $3.33 per bottle, they were less than half the price of inks at the local art stores. As I stated, I just dabble, a hobby. The inks I've tried so far seem fine to me. My only issue is that the Golden Yellow in Set 2 wasn't tightened properly and leaked into the carousel. Not a deal breaker, just enough to rate a 4 instead of a 5. Gonna check the Dr. Ph. Martin's website, and if they rectify this issue, I'll up them to 5. Fast delivery, strangely liquid, yet brilliant colors. Somebody really stuffed some pigment into these bottles. Very lively ink. I will buy again. Can't believe I never heard of this company before.
