California Air Tools CAT-AUX05A Lightweight Portable Aluminum Air Tank, 5 Gallon, Silver

When I picked the box up from the porch, I knew that I'd be glad that I bought this tank. I've owned steel air tanks in the past, and while I did expect this one to be lighter than them, I was surprised just how much so. Another pleasant surprise was the additional stabilizer on the bottom of the tank. Rather than having only one, as shown in the first five photos, there were two, as shown in the sixth photo of the tank near a compressor. I did quick leak test--admittedly for only a few hours--but the pressure was still there with no loss. Also, I like the form factor: longer and smaller in diameter than typical tanks of similar capacity. This is my second purchase of a California Air Tools product, and it probably won't be my last.

High quality air tank. Best fit for the back seat of a pickup or the cargo area of a compact. I swapped out the quick-fill coupling on the shutoff valve side of the coupling tee for a 5-In-1 universal coupling just for versatility, but everything else about this tank fits my specs. Accurate gauge, professionally manufactured with high-quality materials. Factory finish is first-class and drain valve is in the right place.

Overall quality was superb though I had to replace male fitting on air hose to get a leakproof seal. Now tank will hold air with air hose attached to allow multiple inflations with out noticeable pressure loss. Fortunately my spare parts drawer solved leak problem. Hence only 4 star rating.

Arrived in perfect condition and was a snap to ready for use. Agree with others that the fittings are not the highest quality but with proper care and handling they will last. It has held air pressure consistently from the first charge. This tank is perfect for my use and is very light and portable! Wouldn’t hesitate recommending to my friends and family!

Does what is suppose to do. No complaint's.

Nice tank, seems well made and lightweight as advertised. HOWEVER, the fittings are very low quality and I would have preferred to save $15 and not have them included. Right out of the box, the tire chuck was leaking. I removed it and noticed the quick connect leaked as well. I replaced the quick connect and filled it up again to find that the 1/4 turn shut off valve wouldn't stop air from coming back out. To top this all up, the T-junction snapped off when I was untying the valve and I had to replace that too.

Very nice portable air tank. Light and easy to use for an old guy like myself. Definitely worth the money. Definitely recommend.

I had a spare air-tank that I used with my compressor, but it was steel. It was surprisingly heavy and difficlut to move around. THis California Air Tools aluminum tank is a fraction of the weight. It works perfectly, holds air, and ie EASY to move around. I highly recommend this if you do much moving around with the tank.

Hi All I bought it a few days ago and the connection were air-tight (there was white Teflon installed, so perfect) and it does not appears to leak at all. The tank was much smaller than I thought (it appears bigger on the picture).
