technical review from a technical guy - hope it helps
comes with 64gb and 4gb of ram so it's working brilliant android based os so it works just like a tablet i've read other comments about a bleading issue where the screen holds pixels from the previous pages - i've experienced this but in the settings there is a "full refresh" button that clears this - you can go further and bind this to one of the buttons so, for instance, i can hold the top button down and it will full refresh this for me clearing the screen - so it works brilliantly it's so light and agile i can't believe, and the speed of it is phenomenal there is a slot on the side which looks like it would take a SIM card but infact it's for a microsd card, i've put just over 3000 books a 512gb microsd and it only takes up 12% of the storage the default 64gb is taken up by the operating system and default applications so really you're only getting 35gb or something like that, which isn't too bad tbh navigating the external sd card is brilliant and easy as well - like i say it's an android based OS so you navigate it just like it's a file system on your tablet when you put the sd card in for the first time the ereader will populate it with lot of default files like Alarms, Notes, Documents, etc - once it did this, i added another folder via the laptop called books and put all my books within that folder - it is now really easy to navigate and i can leverage storing my notes on the sd card as well now to save space on the actual machine the default profiles for brightness are phenomenal as well - sometimes i have had to use it because the darkest setting is a tad difficult but honestly i have no complaints - the colours that come through on the ereader are so cool as well, i think it's brilliant when reading pdfs with diagrams and cover photo's - really like how they've managed to pull this off finally there is a slight sluggish move to it but i have to be honest the way eink displays work i think the speed is phenomenal especially for the price, unless you're precious about he size, i think this thing beats the remarkable tablet and any amazon tablet too finally finally ... you should know it also comes with some features (that are disabled by default don't worry) of cloud storage so if you wanted that feature that remarkable and amazon kindles offer then you can have it on this as well - but i like it for the external storage so i'm landed anyway - hope this helps anyone on the edge - remeber it comes with a 15 day return policy in the warranty ticket that comes in the box (the 15 days is from date of purchase not arrival) then a 1 year warranty on repairs for free - then you have to pay for repairs good luck and good reading - bye

Disappointing screen
The colour screen is very bland, colours are extremely muted in comparison to screenshots. Black and white content is very low contrast, almost unreadable in some cases. The operating system is very poorly translated, very difficult to understand what some of the settings are meant to do.

UPDATED 19/9 Pretty good but a few points could be better...
Second update: missed the aesthetics so thought I'd try one more time. Dead pixel in centre of screen straight out the box. Never buying Boox again. UPDATE: it kept freezing and glitching and restarting. Ended up sending back for a refund. Once you get the settings sorted, it is a good device. Quick software, nice to hold, not too heavy and comfortable form factor, and feels more premium than the previous gen. Battery so far has lasted me over 2 weeks with at least an hour reading per day (wifi and bluetooth off, mid brightness) and am currently at 62%. Screen could be much brighter and sharper but that's Kaleido3 screens for you! I have all reading apps but mostly load my books to use the native Neoreader programme. Shame not waterproof especially given the price. Note - this is an ereader, NOT a tablet replacement.

Too grainy and slow imo
As someone that owns a kindle paperwhite, I wanted to grab an e-reader with colour. After watching many reviews online I decided on this one. I received it and returned it the next day. I’m fully aware that the screen isn’t going to be as crisp due to the kalidoscope 3 filter but it was so grainy and slow and there was a lot of ghosting on the screen. I have since decided to grab the colorsoft and I’m very happy with it, it isnt grainy and it’s just as fast as my paperwhite and the colour is also a lot better and little to no ghosting. After watching many reviews none of which mention how grainy it looks I thought I’d leave a comment.

Fantastic eink ereader! Recommended. However, doesnt include stylus!! Why??
Great eink ereader. Used to have an older kindle and loved it, but this gives options of android apps on top, so I can use readly and rss feed apps etc. Absolutely love it, but only one negative which I think it quite big, it is a premium price compared to other ereaders and doesn't include a stylus. It has been difficult finding one that is compatible as well. This SHOULD be included for the price.

Absolutely Love It — So Much Better for Multi-App Reading!
I’m very happy with this purchase. It has a simple design, but offers lots of useful features — including the ability to download apps through the Play Store. As someone who loves reading not only on Kindle but also through other apps, this has been extremely convenient. I also really appreciate that the books display colourful covers, something Kindle doesn’t offer. Overall, a great device for readers who want more flexibility.

Probably the best colour eReader
Massive steep learning curve! I have 2 BOOX eReaders (Mono) both 5 years old and going strong but this takes the biscuit for non intuitiveness. Ended up doing a factory reset to get out of the mess I created. Completely lost the options bar from "Quick notes" which was one of reason I bought it (To take notes) If you want an out of the box reading experience this isn't it, but if you want a highly customisable device and have the patience and time to master it then go for it. Android apps I've tried work well. Even page turning on "moonreader" is silky smooth. I've only given it 3 stars because no colour eReader is really all that good when it comes to color rendering but this is one of the best
