Great humor, stupid funny!! I saw it in High School and loved it, and love it now!

Use to watch this one a lot with my dad. He introduced this film to me at a young age and I became obsessed with it. It is dumb film, but it truly shine because of Rick and Dave characters. So many good laugh out load moments in this. I love to share this movie with people that are Rick Moranis fans.

I found a mouse in a bottle of beer. I took it back and they didn't give me free beer, but they gave me this movie. This film, I assume is protected in the Library of Congress for future generations to enjoy. It is an epic tale of good and evil. The classic Hero's Journey except the hero is two heroes, and they're drunk and they totally want to go on their journey because it is to a brewery. As a bonus, you also get the Canadian avant garde film "The Mutants of 2051 AD". Sit back with a pack of 2-4 and some back bacon and enjoy this modern classic. I gotta go now. I gotta pee so bad I can taste it! TAKE OFF!

I feel like this is in the category of a neglected classic, if someone with power is paying attention this deserves a rescan and new blu-ray.I'll admit I was a little nervous getting this DVD, I loved this movie as a kid, and I was afraid it wouldn't hold up. To my complete surprise, I loved it as much or more than the first time I saw it.Okay, full disclosure, it has a lot of little boy humor in it, fart jokes, etc. My favorite parts are still the scenes with Hosehead the magic dog, and the first scene in which he appears he growls at Bob and Doug because they try to take back the beer they put in his dog dish (they succeed by giving him a jelly donut instead).* This is not highbrow stuff. Also, a big scene is Bob drinks so much beer he pees on a fire and puts it out. Again, last warning, this is not highbrow entertainment.That said, there is just something really endearing about these two idiot brothers and how they move through the world. They abuse and tease each other, but they also cannot bear to be separated. They get a job at a beer factory by accident (actually, they are trying to con them out of free beer), and life is good. When push comes to shove, they come through and save the day by suggesting that their dog solve the problem, and, of course, it works. :)So I love this stupid movie, its dumb hockey scenes ("No goal! No goal! It was in the crease!") and its flying "Toronto skunk." So watch it, you knob, because my brother's a genius, he once got our dead battery goin' by mixin' bird feces and spit, and if you'd stick to your 12-point maintenance program, eh, then we wouldn't have to jump-start you like this!

No spoilers on this one. Its funny, its cute and its a cult classic. So sit back, grab a cold one and some snacks. Its time to watch Strange Brew.

Good day, eh? and welcome to my review. "Strange Brew" is best described as a Canadian version of Hamlet with beer and a happy ending. (The Brewery is even named "Elsinore" for crying out loud.) Lynne Griffin plays Pam Elsinore, the Hamlet character, who is helped by the indefatigable Doug and Bob Mackenzie (Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis) against the evil Dr. B. M. Smith played by Max von Sydow (I don't know how they got Max von Sydow other than he cashed the check and it cleared) and his bumbling minion, Pam's uncle Claude Elsinore, well played by Paul Dooley ("Breaking Away, the voice of 'Sarge' in "Cars"). Brewmeister Smith is planning to use beer he has chemically altered to control peoples' minds in order to take over the world and it is up to Pam, her love interest, former hockey star Jean LaRose (Angus MacInnes), and Doug and Bob to stop him. In the end, the Mackenzies manage to save the day and even find a way to safely dispose of the altered beer.Even after all these years, the MacKenzies are still hilarious. The Mackenzie characters, portraying all the negative Canadian stereotypes (beer drinking, toque wearing, back bacon eating), were created by native Canadians Moranis and Thomas to protest Canadian content laws on Canadian Television and the two play their characters to the hilt. "Strange Brew" has so many wacky and madcap scenes and Thomas and Moranis are over the top as Doug and Bob, it is hard to choose a favorite scene. Given that, I would have to say my favorite line is when Bob and Pam are trapped in a rapidly filling beer tank, "My brother and I used to say that drowning in beer was like Heaven, eh? Now he's not here and I've got two soakers . . . this isn't Heaven, this sucks!"So now, like, all you hosers need to get this movie, eh? Otherwise you knobs can take off, eh?!

Strange Brew is an oddity. The film won't work for everyone, but for everyone else, just sit back relax and enjoy weird offbeat humour and crazy, crazy characters- and thats just our heroes.Doug and Bob McKenzie live for just one thing beer- so they are delighted to end up working for a brewery. Thing is this isn't any old brewery. Here the people in charge have a room where they are conducting expreiments to rule the world through beer manipulation.Max Von Sydow is the standout actor here, and you can tell that he is really enjoying himself as the bad villian. A break at least for him from more sombre down beat roles.In truth its like watching an old James Bond movie twisted with one liners straight out of Airplane. But the humour is more thought out, more dry if you like. The joke is there then gone, so this as aforementioned won't be too everybody's taste. It's a good movie though, just expect the unexpected. Would be good to watch this, followed by Waynes World and then Bill and Teds first movie.

Took a while to get here and there was some confusion over the discs region but the seller sorted it out real fast. The region by the way is 0 meaning it can be played anywhere. Strange Brew is a great film, it is the original Bill and Ted/Wayne's World. And even funnier you hoser eh. So take off to the great white north and watch this classic.

You can't help laughing at the antics of these two brothers. An easy film to watch, whatever your mood. Brilliant

My understanding of Canada and Canadians is largely based upon this film, eh?
