Mens Silky Satin Lounge Robe, Long Lightweight Sleepwear

Women have their lingerie, and men have... well, we don't generally care as much. I got this for a pajama party, but it seems like something I will actually keep around. Good quality, and nice and comfortable. The only thing that raised an eyebrow was there seemed to be a lot of loose strands of material when I first pulled it from the package. Like what you sometimes see from the edge of un-hemmed material. Didn't seem to affect any seams or overall function. I have not had the chance to wear it extensively, to see how it holds up over time with repeated wearing and washing yet, so I will update the review if anything dramatic happens. So far, so good!

I just received this yesterday, so I have not put a lot of time into wearing this; however, I am already impressed with the purchase. I suffer from intractable migraines that last last for days. It never ends but abates. At the height of the pain, it causes every touch of my body to be painful and uncomfortable causing me to have to remove clothing to help eliminate sensory overload. Elastic is particularly the worst, but some fabrics are worse than others. I purchased this robe because I would looking for something very lightweight without ant pattern knitted into the fabric. Most light weight robes will have a waffle pattern which feels like sand paper on my skin. This robe does not. It is purely flat satin. It is indeed silky smooth on both sides. I imagine that switching to satin sheets will turn the bed into a slip and slide. But there are no complaints about the feel. These are soft! The seam is a plain seam meaning that the two pieces of fabric are sewn together with a zigzag pattern from the wrong side. They are not felled seams which would lay flat against the finished fabric. Instead, they stand up perpendicular to the flat fabric. They appear to be durable standard machine made seams. A felled seam would be much more comfortable because the seam would not rub and irritate my hypersensitive nerves. But it is difficult to find a manufacturer that tells you what type of seam is used. There are 34 common seam types. I wear a large in T-shirt and bought the 2XL robe knowing it comes from China. Most Asian manufactured and sold products I have purchased are undersized from what the US consumer would expect. Not so much in this case. I would say the 2XL is closer to an XL where wrapped around the body. The sleeves and length are both what I would expect for a 2XL. Instead of mid-calf, this is nearly ankle length for my 5' 10" body. The outer belt is so slick that it does not like to stay tied unless tied in a bow or something more complicated than a standard quick release slipknot. This could be embarrassing if you don't test the strength of the knot before walking to the mailbox. Fortunately, they have a smaller tie strap on the inside of the robe that holds the right flap ties to the left side of the body allowing for somewhat adequate cover to remain if the belt comes open. If you don't tie the internal strap, you are walking around at your own risk. The internal tie is a good fail-safe to prevent over-exposure. Your neighbors will thank you. The fabric is nice and thin. I was looking for something that was about as lightweight and soft as an active-style t-shirt. This is exactly what I wanted. It is vaguely transparent if you hold it up to a light, and yes, you can see daylight through it. But with the overlay of the left and right panels in the front, it provides adequate light blockage so you won't be flashing people. The fabric is light enough that a breeze will make you feel like Marilyn Monroe cooling down over a subway grate. Be prepared. There are the standard two belt loops - one on the left and one on the right. They do not feel too sturdy, but since they are located in just the right location above the hips, they should not undergo too much strain. I find that most belts can be used without the loops to retain closure. The loops come in handy for when you want to wear it untied. Just be aware that the belt is not tacked to the robe, so leaving it in the loops but untied will cause you to lose the belt. It is the same slickness as the robe itself so it slides like a well-oiled bearing. The belt length could be a bit longer because of the need for more complex knots to hold it closed, but it is just adequate enough. I only docked one star because of the seams not being flat and the belt not being just a few inches longer. 6 more inches to the belt would be perfect.

Was a little skeptical based on the reviews but went ahead and bought it. So glad I did. The fit is true to size. It’s so comfortable and looks great. Hits right at mid calf. Perfect for all year wear. No issues with it coming apart.

Small size measure was not given in description, hence I ordered medium size which is larger for me. Belt is placed too high.
