Bug Club Phonics - Phase 2 Unit 1-2: Alphablocks In a Pit

Superb book for kids learning to read, have used alongside alphablock dvd set, from Amazon, and alphablocks reading magazine, online, one week in and my son has gone from a non reader to a confident first steps reader, and my baby has learnt all his letters, just ordered some more book, next level!! Arrived quickly in perfect condition, I hope they start selling in sets as it can be tricky negotiating which are first, second, third etc

My two year old twin girls and 5 year old son all love this book. Even though they are at different levels in their understanding they all enjoy paging through; having me read it to them; or reading it themselves!

I bought the alpha blocks reading programme on the web for £30, and bought this to use with that. The book is very short, but perfect for my little one who knows 8 letters so far and very few words. It mirrors the TV episodes which cover the first letters in the scheme.

Love the way these books have bits at front to help children blend the sounds if letters and the little tips on questions to ask throughout the book. We really enjoy reading thus together.

Not a book at all, its tiny and very thin - children will destroy this quick smart. More of a pamphlet really. Overpriced.

I purchased a few alphablock books for my son who is four years old as he loved the telly series and expressed an interest in learning to read. These stage 2 books are ideal for first time readers as they concentrate mainly on simple words that can be spelt and read using the phonic sounds of each individual letter eg, Map or Dog. My son has picked it up very easily as the books are well laid out and have a lot of additional info on how to get the best out of the book when reading with your child. i would definately recommend that you watch some of the T.V. series first to let your children become familiar with the alphablock characters but after that these books are essential reading!!!

Great book visually and easy to teach your child to read. I found my child to be more engaged with this book as he was use to the characters from the DVD. I think the book series would be really good if books had more/ longer stories. This book only has 4 pages so it can become very expensive if you try to by the entire set of books.

Not bad but I was expecting something... more,I guess. My daughter still enjoys it and that's what matters. We also have a set of Jolly Phonics readers. They are short too... but contain 4 more pages using only S A T P I N and one word : "a". Whereas here, I had to introduce words "a" and "is". Basically, it's just like with the Numberblocks activity set and Alphablocks reading programme : you pay for the product AND the licensing. I only accept that because it's working. The books, magazine and toys mean less screen time for the same result and engagement.
