Bushmills blackbush 1ltr
This has got to be my favourite from the Bushmills line up. Excellent with mixers or just on its own. I have yet to try it in a cocktail but I prefer just as it is. One tip I have picked up is why not try putting some in the fridge rather than adding ice, it really does change the flavour and for me it becomes smoother without watering it down. A truly excellent product, I will be purchasing this again. I would usually class this as an autumn / winter drink but can’t see why it wouldn’t be any good mixed with something to create a summer drink.

Price was good.
I love the taste. Not all will agree. It's down to preference.

What is there not to like?
For a number of years Bushmills Black Bush has been a whisky cupboard staple. (I have 3 litres.) I find the 80% malt with 20% sweet grain formulation ideal, providing a reliable drink that is pleasant and without harshness. it savours like more expensive single malts. I keep a regular watch on this product, having bought several in this 1 litre bottle presentation. I have noticed that all whisky prices can vary, and sometimes substantially. Any offering of this Irish whiskey at around £27 or less is excellent value, so grab it when you can. No one that I have introduced this whiskey to has ever been disappointed.

Mellow, Smooth & Excellent Value
I'll start by saying that I'm not a massive whisky drinker. I've not tried a huge number of different whiskies - although I have tried a few - and I certainly know what I don't like. I'm not a fan of peaty whiskies like Talisker. I also know what I do like. I like Penderyn, the welsh whisky. I like Bushmills. It seems that Irish whiskey is smoother and more subtle than Scotch Whisky - at least to my palate. I'm not a fan of Jameson's strangely enough though. I've tried several of the Bushmills whiskeys - white label, black bush, 10 year old malt, 16 year old malt & 400 year anniversary - of all of these, black bush is my favourite. In comparison, white label tastes a little thin - nice until you've tried the other variants. The malts are lovely, but black bush is, in my mind at least, uniquely satisfying. It has a smoothness and mellowness that allows for drinking neat. The bouquet is wonderful - almost brandy like. Regardless of all that, this is my favourite whiskey by a long way - the litre bottles represent excellent value (particularly when the price drops below £25!). I cannot recommend this enough!

Smooth and inoffensive
I've an old friend from Holywood, N.Ireland who swore by Bushmills Black Bush for years and yet I've never knowingly sampled this......we got through a lot of beer, so it may have sneaked past me. Well, in my now happy retirement I decided at the offered price of £23.65 for a 1 Ltr bottle that it was an opportunity not to be missed. I have to say that I've been on a single malt journey for a wee while and my only experience of Irish whiskies have been a Xmas samples gift and Jameson Stout Edition (not immediately a winner but one that benefitted from oxidation over a week or 3). There are those with a much more sophisticated nose/palette than mine that would agree with the various tasting notes etc. so I'll save you my limited whisky(ey) vocabulary. Suffice to say that this is better than Jameson and is indeed very smooth. It's a lovely honey gold colour on the eye but there is not much to report on the nose aside from a general sherry sweetness. Post arrival, the development is pleasant in a Speyside sort of way, but I know that after the first neck pour that such whiskies gain momentum and after air and rest in bottle grow in stature. The Black Bush is one such whiskey. It clearly wears its high malt content well and it drinks a quality that you wouldn't be shy in sharing with friends. It is great value when on offer and it will please if not thrill. I have perhaps been spoiled by more integrity malts.....however, I am no whisky snob. A good blend is not to be sniffed at. The BB is no exception.

Brilliant Black Bush
My favourite Irish whiskey, no contest. It's a masterclass in creating an Irish blended whiskey, with a majority of single malt married to some single grain. I drink it neat, it's too good to plunge into Coke or Canada Dry.

Very smooth
I used to drink Scotch when I was a student - sometimes with water, often without. But when I went to college (TCD Dublin) I came across Irish whiskey, which one bought as a 'chaser' with one's pint of Guinness. So now, much much older, and in search of something to enjoy now I am retired, I selected this. And it is very, very smooth - but also (if taken neat) quite a shock to the system. So, even if it is not de rigeur, and is looked down upon by those who know, I take it with some water. Anyway, it is a great drink. The only complaint I have is nothing to do with the quality of the whiskey, but the packaging. The bottle was rattling about in the box with a bit of brown paper at the top and the bottom and nowhere near as secure a it should have been. Well, it didn't break in transit; I am surprised it got here in one piece. If you want to try an Irish whiskey, then you can't go far wrong woth this one. Edit - bought another bottle. Packing - sturdy box but just a bit of brown paper at top - bottle rattling about. Apart from the poor packing the whiskey itself is excellent
