This is perfect for bringing with you when tracking and gutting a deer out in the woods - both compact but efficient enough to through the pelvic bone and leave the mess behind. Is now a staple in our hunting bag.

This is a very decent little hand axe. I ordered the short handle version. It is perfect for camping trips, or to pack in a survival bag. With a small hatchet like this, you won’t be splitting any huge logs, but it isn’t really designed for that anyway. This works very well at splitting small logs for firewood, clearing brush, or cutting small tree limbs. The head is made from some nice looking hardened steel and has a decent weight to it. It seems durable and I don’t have any concerns about it breaking on me. The handle doesn’t have the nicest finish I’ve ever seen but it is acceptable for a tool like this. The handle has some really thick circular metal wedges installed that keep the head on very securely. So far, it feels like the head is very securely attached to the handle. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the sheath doesn't fit well at all. It is very difficult to get it on, and it feels like the sharp blade will rip it over time. At the time of writing this review, the short handle axe is listed at $25.99. I think this is a good price for a small hatchet of this quality. If you are putting together a survival bag, definitely throw one of these in there!

Upon taking it out at the bonfire to break down small logs, it barely lasted an evening before the blade started coming loose from the handle. I know it’s cheap so you get what you pay for. Still, was hoping it wasn’t going to fall apart the first day of the camping trip.

It’s so short and cute. For the price, you can’t go too wrong.
