The laptop was a great price for the horsepower. However, I was unable to get Ubuntu 22.04 to boot up on the laptop. I run Ubuntu Linux on all my computers and rarely have an issue installing on a new computer. This laptop was the exception. I attempted to install Ubuntu 22.04. The installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. It kept saying it could not find the file-system. I then attempted to install 24.04. Again, the installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. I then attempted to install 20.04. The installation went smoothly and this time the system did boot up. However, when I performed the release upgrade to go from 20.04 to 22.04, the upgrade went smoothly but the system would no longer boot up. I must have tried some 20 installations attempting different BIOS and kernel configurations before finally giving up and returning the laptop. I ended up buying a different HP laptop from Sam's Club with which I had no problems at all installing and booting Ubuntu 22.04. If you are going to stick with the stock Microsoft Windows installation, then this laptop is probably a great buy for you. If you intend to install a Linux installation instead, then you should avoid this laptop.

Uodate- After finally contacting a competent HP rep, we discovered that Amazon allows sellers disguised as big companies like HP. Buyer beware, this product shows to be sold from an official HP account, but turns out it is not. At this moment it is a company called FuelCell. I discovered it upon researching the item with HP. While shopping or viewing the item before purchasing it shows as a new product direct from HP through their Amazon platform, after ordering it shows as FuelCell. Turns out this is a refurbished/ modified laptop. I searched the serial number on the HP site and it shows the item is out of warranty and had been modified incorrectly. The laptop on Amazon shows as a 16gb hard-drive, it is actually a 4gb modified poorly. This is why multiple attempts to reset to factory setting failed, making this laptop essentially a crappy boat anchor. At this point Amazon is refunding me outside the 30 day return as I have sufficient evidence showing the blatant false advertisement as bait and switch they are allowing in their platform. Unfortunately I am still waiting on the reimbursement of the additional 2 year warranty, which only works after 1 year of ownership. Be careful buying online even through a popular company like Amazon. Also if you are in the same boat as me, Amazon will try to charge you a restocking/return fee. Kindly remind them that they are liable legally for their shady sellers posing as authentic dealers. Original post- HP is garbage overall. My laptop stopped working after 6 months. I bought the additional 2 year warranty, which is useless if your laptop breaks under the manufacturer warranty. So I'm stuck dealing with HP. Good luck getting support. The phone number that leads you in an endless loop. The chat which is also a endless loop. I have filed a BBB complaint, in which I am hoping to be fully reimbursed so I can purchase a better product with actual support. Just look up HP customer service reviews and experiences for yourself.

I bought this PC to give slide presentations and a little business record keeping. Since it’s a business use machine, I back it up regularly. For the money it works well for my basic needs. Too slow for gaming, but is fine for general streaming. Display is OK, nothing special.

for this for hundred seventy five, and for that price its a good deal. the laptop is slow, its a celeron CPU on the low end, but has plenty of RAM and just sufficient SSD to run windows and some bare minimum. I got this for my mom who's over 75 and she loves the color so it looks good. and its faster than the old PC she had. Youtube, word - work fine. I don't expect anything else really to perform here, if you are in college or need this for work - don't get it. Battery life is huge but again, you can't do much here. It's like a better version of Chromebook :). picks ups wifi 5 and 6 readily, no problem there.
