Product Description JP Guitar Set, phos. S. Light - Super-Light gauge string set from the legendary Breezy Ridge companyMade by John Pearse Strings - Bluegrass inspired USA string range from well known guitarist John Pearse Box Contains 1x JP Guitar Set, phos. S. Light Review: Great strings so far - These are the best I have come across so far. I think that different strings sound very different on different guitars so you will need to try them but I have them on a quality solid mahogany dreadnought and they are just right. Cannot comment yet on how long they will last but so far so good. Review: Best fingerpicking strings for my concert size guitar - When I got my new Yamaha LS16 it failed to deliver on the promised projection and responsiveness. I restrung it with D'Addario EXP light guage, which I understand Yamaha put on at the factory, but got the same underwhelming sound. I thought it might be down to the guitar being new, a smaller concert size, made in China, etc. and began regretting my purchase. I then tried Elixir Nanowebs as these seem a popular choice but found a similar response. Definitely, not worth the extra money they ask. Finally, I tried the John Pearse 550SL which are a gauge between light and extra light strings. These made the guitar ring and come alive. They are a bit 'bright' initially but settle down quickly and continue to sound good for two months playing about a hour a day (provided you wipe the strings after use).

Good quality
As a youngster these were the only strings I used. Picking my guitar back up after a 25 year break I thought these strings were no longer made; what a pleasant surprise to find that they are not just there, but the quality remains very high. Ideal for fingerpicking.

I had such high hopes, but...
Okay, I have a Gibson J50 so tried John Pearse strings to pretend I sounded like James Taylor. No fear of that, JT doesn’t need to lose any sleep! But the strings? Really didn’t like the tone or the feel, and spent ways too long saying ‘c’mon, this just doesn’t sound good!’. Moved on to D’addario Nickel Bronze and immediately loved them, they genuinely let the nature of the guitar to sing. P.S. I still adore James Taylor!

Great balanced tone
It's the first time i've used John Pearse strings but I will be using them again. They have a great balanced tone, not too bright. The slightly light gauge bass strings really help, if like me you regularly use a capo.

Good strings but wrongly described
I like these strings but they are wrongly described on Amazon so be careful. I've twice sent in corrections with the correct description (from the packet) but these have been ignored. Bad show Amazon.
