Outstanding kit quality and SO SATISFYING!!
Super pleased with this kit! The parts manufacturing quality is top notch, and the finished model reflects this. The color instruction manual was very good, though some of the parts pictured were a bit hard to orient in the building process based on their depiction (ex. I couldn’t tell if the small planetary gears in the engine should be mounted with their raised centers facing up or facing down based on the illustration, but some fiddling sorted things out — the raised center goes on the bottom). Also, there are quite a few extra screws and washers left over at the end of the build, so don’t be alarmed when you see this. It’s likely because the various fasteners are so tiny, you’ll lose a few to your lap or the carpet. Tweezers are imperative! Additionally, though basic hex wrenches and a tiny screwdriver are included in the kit, needle-nose pliers are not, and will be needed in places. Furthermore, the little bottle of lubricant included didn’t go as far as I would’ve liked given all the moving parts in the kit so I ended up supplementing a small tube of dielectric grease I had lying around in my toolbox after the supplied lube ran out. I realize this engine kit is for display and not actual running, but it still felt good to lubricate the cylinder walls and gears and stuff just the same. I used a thin-tipped model paintbrush to apply it and this worked way better than say, a q-tip. Lastly, I spent $10 and ordered a more snazzy propeller for my engine. I didn’t care for the weird, shiny metallic, pink(!) one that came in the kit. It’s 7” long, so I ordered the 7” diameter, 3-bladed one shown in my video (link below), and drilled it out to be a press-fit on the model’s prop shaft. Worked great and looks cool, I think. Have fun with this kit! It requires a good 6-hour build time, is a bit fiddly in places, but satisfying to assemble and not impossible for the STEM student science fair project, or (like me) a grown airplane geek who wanted a nifty desk piece. expensive but solid model to build
we waited for a decrease in price and were able to get a small percentage off - so we purchased for our teenage son who enjoyed putting it together. it is very detailed and takes a little bit of time to put together but it runs beautifully and is a nice break from any electronics

Good but not perfect for the money. Fun to assemble.
Nice model with a few minor complaints so no 5 stars. The instructions are generally good but in a few spots they could've done a blowup to ensure proper orientation. Also, in two places there's a message in red print but only in Chinese with no translation. Google Translate to the rescue but this shouldn't be this way. I agree with other reviewers about the pushrods falling out too easily. Must pick up this thing very carefully.

There's a trick I used to attach the pistons.
Another Teching wonder. I wish I could afford the jet engine. The Diesel model was terrific too. I used removable LokTite to steady the low end piston rods. I applied just the tiniest amount and let it dry completely before mounting the 5 pistons. I have only one good hand and couldn't have done without this method.

Great Kit
I really liked this kit. Everything went together as they should, and the assembled product looks and runs great. I'm 81, and handling the tiny screws was problematic, so I would not recommend this kit to people with failing eyesight or limited hand dexterity. This kit would be great for teaching engine operation to a child.

5 Cylinder Radial Engine
a fun build... not quite finished yet.. pistons, valving, crankshaft and propeller rotate smoothly...power to follow...

Great metal working model. Only complaint: Valve timing seems off.
This model, though expensive, is very well made and goes together flawlessly. Spares are included for some very small parts such as screws. looks fantastic when finished; I painted the spark plug insulators for greater realism. Tools are included, though I used my own, better quality tools - mostly metric Allen wrenches in about 4 different sizes. Study the instructions carefully to avoid issues. Lubricate thoroughly during assembly. After reading another review, I used Vaseline on the lifters to help avoid a falling-out issue - it's easy for the lifters and pushrods to come loose if the model is handled carelessly. My only complaint is when the engine runs, the valve timing seems off; the intake and exhaust valves both seem to open on piston upstroke.

Aircraft engine
The valves don’t open and close at the correct timing with the pistons and It was smaller than I was expecting. Fit: We had planned to use it to teach students about aircraft engines.
