How Computers Work: The Evolution of Technology (How It Works)

I got a copy of this when I was young. My career then went on in I.T. It tells you everything you need to know about computers in gerneral and helped me alot. Like it or not, computers dominate and help our lives now, I got an updated copy for my young nephew, to hep educate him.

Excellent book even for people who think they know a lot about computers. Everything is explained in simple precise language and the illustrations are superb. I particularly enjoyed the opening chapters which take the subject back to the very basics such as principles of electricity and how they relate to computers, bits, transistors etc.

As an Analyst I love to know how things work and this perfectly shows what it says on the cover. Written in plain English with clear instructive diagrams/ images, so that anyone can understand. A great format not to be changed.

I work in IT and have always struggled to understand the technical side. This book really helps you understand the basics. I am a person that needs to read something a few times before it sinks in, so will be reading it again. Highly recommended

Seems like a good book for content. It's a real shame that images span two pages, and the editor has not accounted for the fact you can't see about 1cm in the middle because of the spine... quite frustrating.

If you want to learn something about computer,it will help you.I bought the book for my daughter , and she did learn more from the book,she likes it.
