I’m really impressed with the Transbot-SE. It’s a solid, well-thought-out robot kit that’s clearly designed for learning and experimenting with AI vision and ROS. The build quality stands out right away. The aluminum alloy tank chassis feels sturdy and smooth, and the off-road tracks combined with the encoder motors give it plenty of power and control. Following the assembly video was straightforward, and the finished robot feels like a serious desktop-level platform, not a toy. What really makes this kit shine is the AI and ROS learning potential. It supports OpenCV, face and object tracking, QR/AR recognition, gesture control, and MediaPipe, which opens the door to a lot of creative projects. I took my time with the build—about two hours a day over three days—and everything fit together nicely. Others may finish faster, but I found the process enjoyable and educational, especially as I familiarized myself with each component. 💾 Upgraded to a 256GB SD Card I chose to upgrade the included SD card to 256GB. This gives me extra headroom for: * Installing additional AI libraries and development tools * Storing video/image data for computer vision experiments * Future-proofing the system for larger projects It’s a small change that adds a lot of flexibility—especially as I plan to use this robot as a platform for ongoing experiments and upgrades. 🤖 Great for Beginners and Tinkerers ============================= While the price may seem a bit high at first glance, I consider it an investment in learning. So I didn’t realize that this had to be pieced together. I knew there would be some parts to it but I didn’t know it was literally everything. It’s pretty awesome!!! I ordered for my daughter who is starting a robotics class. I think this would be great for an advanced robotics enthusiast. It is very tricky for my daughter so it has been a slow process. I think it’s great they have to build and program it though. It is using the same platform her class is using. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the process complete. The directions are thankfully step by step. I think it’s a very high quality build and worth the investment.

This is my second Yaboom product of this type, the first being a 6DOF robotic arm with a camera mounted to it for AI work. Like the arm, this little bot was easy to put together. The instructions were clear, and there were no missing parts. When it comes to software and tutorials, Yaboom comes through again. Since I already have the arm and a little car from another manufacturer, this kit combined the two into a single package. I even learned a few new tricks, to help with building my own custom robots later on.
