Comprehensive
The tripartite structure of this book is very similar to a book from the same creator about the Japanese language. There's a grammar section, a short phrasebook, and then a series of reading passages (translated) which are very elegant and quite literary. As with the Japanese volume, it seems to me that these three mini-books cater to quite different audiences. The readings are sophisticated and require quite advanced knowledge. The grammar section is clear, rather diagrammatic and dry. The phrasebook is conversational, quite elementary. The book is useful, but needs to be supplemented with other texts. The three sections are really on different levels of progress in the language. The reading passages are exceptional, more interesting than in most such books.

Excellent book... BUT ...
As a beginner, this book looks very structured and in-depth.My complaint about this book is the vowels on page 18 are written very very tiny. With my aging eyes, I had to wear stronger glasses than what I am currently using to see them. They could have written them a little larger.=======I recommend buying Miiko Shaffier's book first called Learn to Read Hebrew in 6 Weeks. You can also watch her video's on the internet by scanning the code inside the book. This will jumpstart you and will keep you wanting to learn more. Then you can progress to the above book being reviewed here.Enjoy learning !

a great guide for beginners wanting to learn Hebrew
I’ve studied several other languages as a native English speaker including Spanish and Portuguese. I became fully fluent in Spanish and moderately so in Portuguese. I’ve studied several other languages as well including Hebrew, German, and some Mandarin Chinese. This is one of the best introductions to Hebrew I have come across in my studies.I really enjoy how the book includes different exercises after each chapter, a phrasebook, and even some short stories.I have a long way to go before I would consider myself to be fluent but this is a great start.

It’s to complicated for a beginner!
Don’t if you are just learning. There not enough examples when explains things. It is just way to complicated for a beginner. Let’s also talk about the fine print under letter that you just can not see and you are just learning.

In-Depth Learning Tool
This in-depth workbook and textbook is a great tool for learning Hebrew. The book is detailed and paced well, so it’s not overwhelming. The most important aspect, in my opinion, is the practical exercises throughout the book, as well as in chapter 1, the alphabet. The book is split into three distinguished sections: Hebrew Grammar, Hebrew Phrasebook, and Hebrew Short Stories. This is an amazing tool for learning Hebrew, as it offers a wide range of learning techniques, starting with grammar and ending with sentence structures.

A Great Book for Travelers
This book offers a great introduction to the Hebrew language for the complete beginner and to travelers going to Hebrew speaking areas. The first part is an overview of grammar, and showed me how difficult this language is to learn. But the next section is made specifically for travelers, offering translations of the most common phrases you’d need to communicate with the locals. The short stories are a bit of a stretch for the beginner, but are fun to read in English.
