A teen-age genius invents a robot watchdog to bail out his girlfriend's father's home-security business. Review: C.H.O.M.P.S. (1979) A Cute movie from my childhood - C.H.O.M.P.S. is a cute family classic. A movie from my childhood. I watched the movie the day that it arrived. Overall, C.H.O.M.P.S. is a good movie. It was rated G in the USA and PG in Canada. It should have a PG rating here as well because of the language used by a character in the movie. Review: Movie review - Great movie one of my favorites growing up glad I finally got it in my collection

Just like I remembered from when I was a kid.
This was a fun movie when I was a kid and still pretty fun to see again. Just a note, it's rated G but has two cuss words, one is literally the very last word of the movie, just stupid.

Classic movie from my Childhood
This movie is so extremely cheesy and so insanely fun. I dont know what more to say about it. I saw it as a young child and loved it and I still love it to this day and I hope my kids love it when I make them watch it!

Great Classic
It had been years since I had seen C.H.O.M.P.S. I never could find it on TV anywhere due to how old the movie is. The DVD is perfect. Takes me back to when I first saw it.

This film has a great concept which attempted to recapture the fun of trained dog features and series like the Benji, Lassie or Beethoven ones, and combined it with an attempt at a buddy duo reminiscent of Oliver and Hardy with their slapstick approach to comedy (which was later tried again, with more commercial success, in Home Alone). There's budding AI (artificial intelligence) in there as well, mostly working according to plan, but which can also run amok and hurt its creators if its environment brings up unexpected elements (in this case, an ultrasonic dog whistle). The romantic bits are superficial, but they still hint at the drama of young people blowing reactions out of proportion (both positive and negative ones). For me, this is a classic, and I readily forgive its silliness in exchange for the nice themes it weaves so well.

The story unfolds as a town is overwhelmed by the sudden increase in the crime rate and Norton Securities-a firm specialized in making and selling security systems business is going to the dogs. Faster than a speeding bull and able to leap tall fire hydrants in a single bound, jumping through concrete walls for defending his owner's property, this powerful pooch is programmed to sink his teeth into crime. But when the company's rivals hear about C.H.O.M.P.S. ,they hire a pair of prowlers to steal the original plans and destroy the watchdog.Casey and Brian will have to catch the crooks and outsmart the competition and they will succeed thanks to C.H.O.M.P.S. Funny movie for children of all ages, my goddaughters loved all the nice and cuddly dogs in this movie!
