Nice replacement woofer for vintage 2 and 3 way speaker cabinets. Best match I could find until I get around to getting the actual speakers I need. Nothing fancy about it, decent specs and a spot on replacement if you are not into refoaming speakers, fills out the sound nicely. Great price point/value speaker. I may just end up keeping these much longer than I intended.

Replaced the original speakers in my Advent Legacy 2’s with these just to see the results. First thing I noticed is the speaker cones are very stiff which results in a tight sound with little to no depth in the bass. They sound great, but I wasn’t getting the low end response and depth I was hoping for initially. I now have between 30-40 hours on them and I am just now noticing them opening up and the bass is deeper and has more of the low end I was hoping for. I played a lot of music with a decent amount of bass such as Lofi, EDM, rap to get the cones moving and loosening up. These speakers are paired with a vintage Pioneer SX-450 receiver along with a Dual turntable and a Wiim streamer mostly set up to play classic rock and classic metal. At this time with the speakers breaking in, they are now getting to where I was hoping they would be with more depth and punch in the low end and I expect they will only get better with more time. Overall, I would say these are excellent speakers, but don’t expect miracles out of the box. You will be rewarded with patience during the break-in period and they start to open up a bit.

5.5 out of 5 After due research, selected these a "replacements" for my vintage Dynaco A-25s. The DC250-8 exceeded my expectations in every way. Yes, I know it's tenuous to quantify something like a decades-gone listening experience, but I don't believe they ever sounded better . . . possibly better than ever. Very clean and solid performance with an excellent low-end profile that is, as-promised, spot-on for use in a ported system. I really can't imagine anything else beating these for price/value. In MY case, for a modest sum, they've more than breathed new life into trusted friends . . . they've "evolved" into something beyond what I would have imagined. One thing: for the A-25 I had to modify (slightly enlarge) the cabinet hole . . . WELL worth the effort. Oh, and kudos to Dayton Audio for delivering everything they said and more.

My 1980 Boston Acoutics A-100s have lived in a closet since the woofers were blown in about 2000 (the second set or woofers - and, somehow, my hearing is fine). I have 2 premium surround systems but became curious what that good old system was like (sadly, the companion Pioneer SA-7700 is probably part of a toy somewhere - that was a great amp). These woofers deliver with good, hard rock stereo sources: Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top. You get the idea. They crank with clarity. A deal at the price.
