Love this basket+bag!
Really really like this hitch basket so far! I got it for my Kia Telluride and have used it for probably 3000 miles already. It carries a LOT of stuff and the included bag does seem to truly be waterproof and is HUGE. I often put two bouldering crash pads and a big inflatable paddleboard backpack plus an electric pump and life vest in the bag in the hitch basket. I can bring my whole family camping and bring a ton of bedding, tents, a canopy, my paddleboard, etc in the bag and hitch basket. Assembly could be done by one person and took maybe 20 minutes. I have not noticed any bolts loosening, but I do check them at least once per camping season. I don't use the anti-rattle attachment and don't hear any noise from the basket whatsoever. I really don't have any cons for the hitch basket. My only real con for the bag is that I really don't like the straps that came with the bag to secure the bag to the basket. They're awkward, hard to use, and loosen too easily. I grabbed a couple lashing straps from Auto Zone during my first trip and have been using those and just one of the original straps since. Also - be aware of how close the load in your hitch basket is to your exhaust pipe!!! I had something propped over the edge of the basket toward the hatch, and the exhaust burned through one of the straps. The bag was totally undamaged despite having bits of melted strap on one side that easily scraped off. That was my bad and now I prop things up over the edge going away from the hatch. Just a heads up!

Fantastic Cargo Carrier with Top-Notch Customer Service!
I purchased the Mockins 60”x24”x6” Weatherproof Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier with the 25 Cu.Ft. Waterproof Cargo Bag, and I’m thrilled with it! The carrier is exceptionally well-made, sturdy, and easy to install. It handles the 500 lbs. capacity perfectly and has performed flawlessly on my trips so far. The waterproof cargo bag is spacious and keeps everything protected. I did notice a small hole in the accessory bag upon arrival, but the customer service team was outstanding—prompt, responsive, and resolved the issue immediately. Their excellent support turned a minor hiccup into a seamless experience. This product is a game-changer for road trips, and the customer service is unmatched. Highly recommend this carrier to anyone needing reliable, high-quality hitch storage!

Good hitch. Strong.
OMG! Saved my travel plans. Filled this thing with 400lbs of luggage to move my daughter across 4 states. We hit a MAJOR pothole in the road that would have hit our heads on the ceiling of the car. The hitch wasn't affected at all. There was a fair bit of assembly, with decent instructions. The removal is NOT convenient as you have to loosen a bolt in order to remove the hitch. The bolt, and associated metal plate, holds the hitch tight against the car.

Extra large is darn big. Easy to assemble.
We have a travel trailer, and there are some items we like to take along that we would rather not put into it (e.g. black and gray water portable tank). The trailer has a 2 inch hitch receiver welded to the frame, so having a exterior cargo carrier seemed a good solution. We will not use this in weather for awhile, so for now this review is only our observations on putting the carrier together and how it fits onto the car/travel trailer. The Mockins was easy to put together, and although we can see it might have rust issues other reviewers talked about, it seems sturdy. Pros: 1. We bought the extra large and it is really big! The mesh style bottom and 6 inch sides seem adequate to secure a load. It will carry a lot! 2. The carrier comes with a mesh cover and straps, a huge water resistant vinyl bag and straps, and ratchet straps to secure the load to the carrier. All the tools! Cons: 1. The assembly instructions show 4 holes to install the arm, but there are only 3. Not a big deal. Just don't do what we did and look for the "missing" 4th bolt. 2. Depending upon how recessed your hitch receiver is, the extra large sticks out pretty far from both the back of our trailer and both of our cars that have 2" receivers. We have some concerns about how much the load will whip at higher speeds. 3. The load tray dies come with stick on red reflectors, but since the rack sticks out so far, we are very close to exceeding the legal distance something can stick out behind the car without requiring brake lights. 4. Those reflectors might not be enough on one of those dark nights that swallow up headlights. We plan to get brake lights to wire to the brake lights on both the trailer and both cars - an additional expense. 5. When carrying a load, the car brake lights might not be visible. (Note the photo of the rear view of one of the pickups where brake lights are not visible). That will not be a problem with our trailer that is wide, but it will be with a lot of cars. 6. The carrier does come with a u-bolt and platform to help keep the hitch mount from bouncing up and down, but it does not come with instructions how to use it. Keeping the platform from bouncing up and down, wobbling from side to side, and twisting within the hitch receiver is really important, because that potential 500 lb load packs a lot of inertia punch when it gets going! We would have preferred to see the hitch with the kind of mechanism our Thule hitch bike carrier has. It is simple and very effective, because it expands the hitch to fit snuggly into the receiver with no play and uses a hook attachment rather than a bolt and cotter pin that can be tightened, too. 7. Having the vinyl bag to protect the load from weather is great, but the bag has some drawbacks. a. It is thick vinyl and very stiff. That makes it hard to fold and hard to unfold and open. It does not hold a shape, because there is no internal support when it is open. That makes it hard to load until a few things are in it, and it will be partially collapsed unless it is full. Will it flap in the wind? Time will tell. The stiff vinyl also makes it really hard to get the zippers that close the top around the corners. Great bag, but it can be hard to use.

I can’t say enough good things about this hitch cargo storage box. As a new family with a toddler, we quickly realized our minivan (a Grand Caravan) didn’t have enough room for all the gear we wanted to bring on road trips and camping adventures. This storage box has been the perfect solution. It’s incredibly spacious and sturdy—with a 500lb capacity, it easily holds all our camping gear. I love that it folds up neatly when not in use. It is also especially handy when we’re hauling firewood at camp or just needing the extra space when running errands. The fact that it locks and is fully weatherproof gives me peace of mind knowing our items are secure and protected in all kinds of weather. It also has a mount for the license plate, which is such an important detail that not all similar products offer. One of the biggest highlights for me was the customer service. I had a few questions while choosing the right product, and the team was incredibly responsive, friendly, and helpful. You can tell this is a small, family-run company that genuinely cares about their customers. It also comes with a 10 year warranty which is excellent and brings me peace of mind. The quality is outstanding—solid materials, great finish, I have zero complaints. We’re so happy we chose this hitch storage box, it’s made our family trips so much easier and I can’t wait to use it every summer.

We just did a 1200km trip from Toronto to Mont Tremblant and back in winter, and although i was concerned that this carrier would not make it, it held up very well and the carrier bag kept everything clean and dry. We put about 200 lbs into the bag. This is a game changer for us.

I wanted a large cargo carrier to haul my boat and kayak, etc during our camping trips with the motorhome rather than stuff them inside. I found this large one on Amazon, which was cheaper than getting one welded up. My mounting system is custom designed, as some genius manufacturer thought the sewer drain under the frame rail was a good idea. For that reason I cannot comment on your typical hitch setup using a trailer hitch. With my system the carrier hitch is supported and vertical pivot functions normally. The carrier itself is also supported underneath on both sides. This thing is solid and will take the weight, possibly more. I doubt I exceeded the 500 lbs capacity rating. The diamond mesh is thin, but welds held up under load. The bag is a thick vinyl, zippers are covered and a velcro flap keeps rain from getting inside. If you are unsure about getting the bag, get it anyways. I was glad I did. Even the storage bag for the cargo bag is well made. The combination lock is like a suitcase lock. The straps work well. The carrier went together fine and is as strong as any of them out there. Tip for the lopsided basket complainers. Never tighten the bolts completely until assembly is finished. The Mocking name plates on both sides help hold the carrier flat, so assembly on a flat, level surface helps. On the carrier's first road trip it performed well. Rain stayed out. Absolutely reccomend this product.

This hitch carrier is great, used it for a family trip from MB to BC, over 6500km, 7 people worth of things crammed into 6 bins and then some, fit great into the Mockins waterproof bag. Everything stayed nice and dry and had no issues at all. Added a set of LED signal lights because of the size it covered the vehicles lights, still worked out great. Wouldnt have been able to do the trip without this so thanks very much and highly recommend it!
