What a Beast of a Game!
Just an amazing game! Each clan comes with their unique abilities that alter the game in different ways. The asymmetrical play promotes many different variants during game play. Each mandate requires careful decision making and having limited mandates certainly brings the challenge to the table, which were the diplomacy aspect of the game comes in. Any player is free to try to convince others on which mandates to put in play. Betting, manipulating, you name it. Because Kami tiles are randomized each game it also adds and promotes variety for the players since each game becomes different. Season cards give more options since clans can heavily invest into them with minimal presence on the board. Rising Sun's strategic depth is comparable to only few other games and every other game will change your opinion on clans which may have seemed strong first time around, but suddenly becomes last on the next round. It is very satisfying to see players (including myself) making plans on their strategy just to notice a mistake that was made which leaves no option to turn back. Its amazing to watch players drop every coin to another so that a Mandate can be played. It is amazing to see the betrayal happen in front of your eyes (without even playing betrayal mandate) when promises were made. The backstabbing, intrigues and the unexpected makes this game a must own. Be careful thou, as if you don't have players that can handle friends turning against them, RIsing Sun may not be what you're looking for. Otherwise it is an absolute beast of a game!

Above Novice But Worth Learning
Great game. Very involved table top with a political system that keeps it interesting. I'd recommend this to novice area control gamers looking to get people more interested in the genre. Detail to the figures is excellent and design overall is drenched in futile Japan. You'll feel like an emperor in no time, and then realize there is quite a bit I'd strategy involved to running an empire. Honor is a great tie breaking mechanism leaving no ties for any scenario. I'd recommend but only if you are familiar with area control or other Eric Lang games (very similar to Blood Rage with battle mechanics). Even if you're not you can still politic your way to victory through alliances. Ride someone else's coat tails and then betray them and try to get the win. There is multiple strategy approaches to this game and they all are correct.

Bought for the minis. I collect and paint.
I'll let others wax poetic on the game itself, I readily admit that I bought this for the exquisite, detailed miniatures which I do paint and collect. These are amazing models at any price. The sculpts are great, the casting in well done and I am very happy with my purchase. At MSRP these are about $1.72 each and well worth it. The game can be found a bit cheaper here and is an even better deal. I'd compare the level of detail on these minis to the fine work you can find over at CreatureCaster. Those are amazing, but cost quite a bit more. TLDR: Looking for some amazing Asian-inspired miniatures to paint or for a campaign? Look no further. 58 very well-sculpted minis with more than 20 of them being quite large! 30 Bushi Figures 15 Shinto Figures 5 Daimyo 8 Monster Figures

Fantastic Figures and great gamplay!
Wow, what does this game not have? Dice rolling is about all I can think of. There is conbat, area control, alliances, betrayal and AWESOME miniatures. These things POP. It is a fairly easy game to pick up and will keep you busy for about 90 minutes to 2 hours with 4-5 players. The dynasty invasion expansion can add a 6th to the mix. The game is split into three seasons and each season’s actions are controlled by the players. Maybe there will be more training (buying cards/monsters), maybe more movement, maybe even a betrayal or two. Its up to the players as each draw four tiles and choose one before each action/turn. Great fun with a great oriental theme!

Fun game
Game is very fun, highly suggest it. A handful of the pieces were distorted and bent. But otherwise no complaints. Worth the price.

Fun
It will take you awhile to get the hang of it. But it’s similar to risk. The figures are so cool! This is a fun game!
