Users needs to underatnd diff between tds and total hardness .... i am water condtioner expert with patent granted for water conditioner technology. Tds means total dissolved salts ..simply it converts conductivity into tds .. and total hardness is amount of calcium and magnesium in water .... more tds does not mean water is hard it is just condctive .... more tds may be because of sodium and potassium.... example just add 1 tea spoon salt in water it will make it say from 100 ppm to 500 ppm but if check hardness using this kit .it would be same as before ...reason is addition of sodium does not make it hard but coductive .... thia kit is easy to use and very effective .

Good product for finding out water hardness and monitoring the performance of water softener but It would be better if proper checks are performed before sending the product

This is a great indicator to know if your water softener is doing its job. Also, even though I use an automatic water I prefer to trigger regeneration by myself. If you're doing this for the time, you want to know exactly when the hardness of your water is increasing, hence an indicator that your water softener needs regeneration. The results have been good. I have even compared this with hard water/treated water and the results I see with this kit are accurate.
