I found this book to be very helpful. It defines what exactly generative AI is, in a way that can be more easily understood, and gives a history of how it came to be, as well as how it’s evolved along the way. It explains what an AI prompt is, why it’s important, and provides tips and tricks on how to create an effective one. It also delves into all the different sorts of things generative AI can be used to produce and/or help with (i.e. works of fiction, poetry, music, videos, visual art, legal research, disease detection, urban planning, etc.) Multiple lists of different AI platforms, websites, and software that people can try out are included within many of the chapters, which was a nice touch. And most importantly, in my opinion, the potential pitfalls of AI, as well as ethical and legal concerns, are touched upon in this book, as well. I will say the setup/formatting of the book is a bit weird in some places and may throw some people off at first, but I was quickly able to get used to it. It was a very interesting read and I recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand AI, figure out how it can be used, and is looking for some ideas about where/how to get started.

This book does an excellent job of demystifying the buzzwords surrounding generative AI while keeping technical jargon to a minimum. If you're a non-technical person seeking a gentle introduction to generative AI, this book is perfect for you.

This bullet-point intro to AI is fast to read and easy to understand, but it does not delve deeply into any subject. It felt mechanic, more like a syllabus than an exploration. Was it AI generated?

I find AI technology fascinating and this book offers a history of AI technology and all that it can do. The book starts by explaining exactly what AI is and how it got started. I found this interesting and easy to read. Then we get into how AI can be used in different areas of culture. I appreciated that the author looked at so many different areas. He looked at art, music, writing, etc. I enjoyed seeing a more unbiased take on AI technology because so much of what we see in the media is how AI is going to spell death for the arts. This book instead frames it as what the possibilities can be and what the current reality is.

Learn all the technical terms and what they mean. Get in the loop of modern technology.

AI is used for a lot of different things like in health care, music and so much more. I have always heard about AI but didn't have a clue what it was until I saw this book and it explains what AI is very well. I really don't think I would ever use it myself but I guess its good for others.

Useful guide that explains the evolution of artificial intelligence in the 1950, in the present and what it will be like in the future. The various techniques used to better understand how AI works are explained. Complete text for those who want to know more about artificial intelligence. The book is clearly written. This manual is essential for those who, like me, are at the beginning of studying AI technology, how to learn the techniques, how and where to use it. I recommend it.

I gave it to my boyfriend who studies AI. The book is repetitive and does not have a good structure. It does not seem to be reviewed before publication as it’s full of errors and looks like a first draft. It does not properly take into account what background or knowledge the reader may have or build on it. We suspect it is actually written by AI as the text in some chapters is disconnected from future chapters, without a good flow or connection, as if a “writer” hasn’t even thought about the structure himself.

This book is a comprehensive view of Prompt Engineering. It is hard to find a book of this quality and depth covering what is a very emergent field. I am looking to upgrade this book with details related to Raspberry PI.

A great introduction to this subject. Plenty of material to enable the reader the grasp the opportunities for using AI and to take your interest further.

Von den 12 Kapiteln fand ich leider nur die ersten 3 beim Verständniss von Generativen AI nützlich. Danach findet man endlose Notizen zu verschiedenen Themen, die wenig zusammen hängen. Ich kann das Buch leider nicht empfehlen. Ich fand im Kapitel dazu kein einziges Beispiel von Bildern, die von KI generiert wurden.
