Fudge Brownie Collagen Protein Bar

I used to order these all the time. But because I wound up going back into bad eating habits I stopped. Just started again. They are fantastic! Loving the new recipe. No aftertaste. No crumbling. They’re not oily like they used to be. And they don’t stick to your teeth like they used to. So good and I love the fact that they’re healthy.

If you follow the Keto lifestyle, you know how tough it is to find quick on the go items to drop in your bag for those hunger moments on the go. These are perfect for that. I do suggest packing them in a plastic baggie as they can get an oil residue on the outside of the packaging. FLAVOR - As expected, wonderful. My 11 year loves them, I think they are scrumptious, and the husband (not yet a Keto fan) says they taste like butter. (Still trying to figure out how that is a bad thing) :) TEXTURE - They are a little gritty, like a protein powder mixed with cookie dough. They can get a little stick in the mouth while eating but nothing like the bars that are fig and date based. Typically they melt in your mouth like a lofty sugar cookie. PRICE - Elsewhere you are going to pay more, Amazon is the best price. That's if you can find them. The only place I saw them besides the Bulletproof website was Whole Foods. The Bulletproof products hands down are more expensive then anything comparable BUT the comparable items really don't measure up. SATISFING - These bars really are satisfying and will curb those pesky cravings for something sweet. They fill you up much like a "Bulletproof Coffee" I have tried all sorts of bars, either way high in CARBS or taste is horrible. I highly recommend the Bulletproof bars.

So.......Why 4 stars? Well, long story short, i wanted a collagen protein bar. This fills the bill nicely. I'm not going to comment the efficacy of the ingredients since my Bat protein bar analyzer is on the fritz. (That's a batman 1966 reference for the kiddies). I think my only critique is constancy. I don't want to oversell it but they are kind of........slick lol Not greasy per se but not dry either. It's not a deal breaker for me but, I could see how they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. That said, if you want a collagen protein bar, give them a try.

I have celiac disease (absolutely NO gluten!) as well as some other food issues: eggs & dairy. I have to vet everything I put in or on my body so I'm not sick for up to 5 days. I kid you not! I did every bit of research to make sure when I purchased these bars that they were both gluten free & vegan. Vegan makes it easy to avoid eggs & dairy. All labels checked out. It seemed it was clear and I could have it. Then it arrived. I ate one. Then looked on the back of the wrapper & on the back of the box, both pictured on the Amazon pages & their website. Much to my absolute surprise I find something that was not on anything listed on the Amazon pages nor their website for these bars: "Processed in a factory that also processes wheat, soy, eggs, milk, peanuts and tree nuts." Literally as I write this I'm having a reaction to the one bar I ate. Why in the world would you have not have that statement on your product description on Amazon & your website, but have it on your box & individual bars?! For people like me that comes at a high cost health-wise. Now I have expensive bars that I can do absolutely nothing with aside from warn others. I can't even imagine if it was my friend who is anaphylactic if he has peanuts! He could end up far worse than me! Please label your Amazon pages & website exactly the same way you do your packaging to keep people like us safe!

Low carbs\keto snacks are hit and miss for me as far as gastric upset. Unfortunately more miss than hit. I tried the lemon, cookie dough and vanilla shortbread. They all taste good, particularly the cookie dough, but for me they ALL make my stomach upset. Not sure why or what ingredient is causing it, but something to be aware. I have been on keto\low card for years and I realize treats are a rabbit hole I must avoid, no free lunch. Single source clean eating is what works for me, my stomach keeps me on task unfortunately.

I love all of the flavors of this brand of power bars, but the lemon is amazing. It's like eating a lemon-short-bread cookie but without the sugar buzz. I can eat one of these for breakfast and make to lunch with no problem. These are the only protein bars that don't give me a sugar buzz or the 'why-did-I-eat-that' stomach ache that I get from most protein bars. These protein bars are pretty crumbly--again, think lemon cookie--so I do make a mess in the car. Everyone I've ever offered these to have loved them, including a 2 year-old, which would be a lot better than giving them a cookie . . . Fat does not make you fat--corn syrup, and prepared foods that your body doesn't recognize are turned into fat. This protein bar tastes like real food, and is made from coconut oil, butter and cashews. All fat-all-the-time. Yum.
