Worked For Old Kenmore 12CF Freezer Model 253.923XXXXX
Our freezer looked like an ice cave due to the old gasket failing. There were conflicting answers as to whether this gasket would work for our 30 year old freezer. One vendor said yes, the other said no. I figured I'd give it a try as a similar replacement freezer would run about $900 (we paid $180 all those years ago). I left the gasket pieces outside on a hot sunny day to get the packaging kinks out of them. I then partially removed the many screws hiding behind my old gasket and slipped the old gasket off. I inserted the magnet strip and carefully trimmed the magnet and gasket pieces to the correct size. Then I slipped the new gasket pieces into place, re-tightened the screws, turned on the freezer, closed the door and hoped for the best. It is now three days later and there is very little frost buildup inside the freezer. This is despite not having yet done a final trim where the gasket pieces come together and connecting them with silicone. I am delighted that this worked for me as I was resolved to purchase a replacement. The job itself was fairly easy and required no assistance. While I am an experienced home-repair guy (100+ year-old house that I have maintained for over thirty years), this job is suitable for a beginner. The important thing is to make the cuts precisely. There was mold behind the old gasket that came off with Windex, paper towels, and elbow grease. Sorry I don't have the full model number handy. When I took the photo all but the first three digits were obscured by the ice buildup. I hope this helps those with similar freezers!

Pain in the rear!
We needed a new gasket for our older garage freezer and can not find the manufacture’s one. Bought this one and it was a huge pain to put in. Once in, it did not make a good seal at all. The magnets are very weak. We ended finding one that worked elsewhere and returned this. Save yourself time... don’t bother!

it's a gamble.
I have a 1971 Philco Ford freezer. No parts to be found. You aren't finding a replacement gasket that lists this freezer as an option. My husband and I took an afternoon to replace the gasket. It definitely needed 2 people. But overall it wasn't a complicated process. If you are paying the least bit of attention and taking your time, the gasket is easy enough to cut to a proper size and install. My issue comes with the fact that now my freezer door will not shut. It is far too thick and the sides of the gasket are too hard to give. The layers of gasket that touch the freezer and the door are much more pliable. It gives you the illusion that it will work well. But because the sides are NOT flexible. It's like they're made from a much more firm material. The old gasket was dried and didn't flex at all and my freezer constantly looked like a snow cone machine exploded inside. So, this was our attempt at not needing a new freezer. We keep it in our basement, so we chose to use a pair of cinder blocks to prop against the bottom of the door so that the door is forced shut. I hope that in time, the gasket will give a little and the door will close again. But hopefully, though the blocks are a pain to use, my freezer stops looking like a snowcone avalanche. All in all, as long as the frost stays out of my freezer, I will be content enough. Since this is a generic gasket, and is clearly not made with my freezer in mind, I can't say whether anyone that has a freezer that this universal gasket claims to fit will have the same issues as me. It is unfair to blame the company. However, Seeing as it IS supposed to be universal, I don't feel bad about only giving it a 3 star review because I've never seen a gasket that is so unsquishable! It seems counterintuitive that a gasket should have so little give.

Awful
This did not even come close to working for me. The junctions between sections were too difficult to make. The magnet was weak. The gasket pieces arrived bent to fit in the box, which made some sections more compressed than others, so a tight seal could never be formed. I tried putting it in hot water, and using a hair dryer, and it never straightened out.

Easy to cut and install, but very weak magnets
This came with no instructions, but installation was not difficult. It is also easy to cut to fit. However, the magnets are much weaker than original, and as a result, the seal is worse than the old one. The vinyl part is stiff, and the magnet is too weak to pull it toward the fridge surface. In fact, I applied the magnetic strips to a metal cabinet to let them stretch out and relax before installation, and they were not even strong enough to stay in place without assistance. The old seal that I removed stuck tightly to the same cabinet. After giving it a few days to see whether its seal would improve, i put the old one back on.

Not universal would not connect to freezer door. Had to use foam mounting tape till new gasket arrives. Very weak magnets total waste of money.

My earlier review has changed for the better. The issue was resolved. The defective item had supply issues so a refund was issued. Seller was very reasonable.
