ESV Chronological Bible

So thrilled with this Bible! I have been going through the Bible chronologically the past two years, but it’s been a bit cumbersome flipping back and forth in my regular Bible. This chronological Bible was such an exciting find and I was really thankful it is in my preferred translation. The Bible is beautiful, the layout has been thoughtfully done, and all the extras (fold out maps, timelines etc) are so helpful. Overall I am just so pleased and excited to spend my daily Bible reading in this Bible.

Chronological Arrangement The way this Bible rearranges scripture by the timeline of events is eye-opening. It helps connect the dots between stories, prophecies, and their fulfillment. For example, reading David's psalms alongside the events of his life adds depth and context. Readable ESV Translation The ESV is faithful to the original texts while remaining clear and modern. It’s great for both study and devotional reading. Quality Design The TruTone cover in brown is elegant and feels premium. The soft, flexible texture makes it comfortable to hold, and it lays flat when open—a big plus for study sessions. Added Features The introductions and timeline charts at the beginning of each section are super helpful. They guide you through how events and books fit together in biblical history. Perfect for In-Depth Study If you’re trying to piece together the full biblical story (especially if you’re new to the faith), this Bible does a great job of making it feel cohesive. Cons Not Ideal for Quick Reference Because it’s not arranged in the traditional order, it’s harder to quickly find specific passages. If you’re used to flipping to familiar verses, you’ll need to adjust. Lacks Extensive Study Notes While it’s great for seeing the chronological flow, this edition isn’t a full-on study Bible. If you’re looking for extensive commentary or deep theological insights, you’ll need additional resources. Text Size The font is a bit small, which could be tough on the eyes during long reading sessions. Final Thoughts The ESV Chronological Bible is an incredible tool for anyone wanting to see the Bible in a fresh, narrative way. It’s thoughtfully designed and provides a unique way to engage with Scripture. However, it’s better suited as a secondary Bible for study rather than your go-to for everyday reading or quick look-ups. The TruTone Brown cover adds a touch of class, making it a fantastic gift or personal keepsake.

I really enjoy this bible. I use it to supplement my "normal" reading. It helps to have an idea chronologically what was going on when a book was written. Several friends and I have been reading through the Bible each day. We just started 1 Chronicles. In hindsight this bible would have bring themes and books together from the beginning. The print does not seem too small and it's easy to read. Of course the ESV is easy to read also. The pages are gold gilded and are the typical bible thin page. The tru-tone brown is okay. It's not ugly but I'd have rather had a black or grey color but seriously it's what's inside that matters.

While it would have been nice to find this Bible in a genuine leather cover, I am not disappointed with the "fake" leather. In terms of content, it is both interesting and helpful to read the Bible in this historic order of the individual books. This is especially helpful in the Old Testament, but I would not want to imply anything negative about the New Testament historic order of the books. Serious readers of God's word will find it both interesting and beneficial to get a handle on the chronological order of the 66 books.

I bought this book, chronologically ordered, to help with study. The Bible itself is beautiful and well made. The TruTone leather is nice quality; not cheap looking. It has lay flat binding, an attached ribbon, plenty of space for notes in the margins. The single column style is wonderful for ease of reading. Even though the print is not giant by any means, the way the font is laid out, I don’t have a hard time reading it even without glasses. (photo shows my regular print vs, the smaller print for reference) Timelines are given throughout to establish chronological flow, along with a brief synopsis of what you will be reading. In addition there is a 4 page, fold out timeline which is very well done along with typical maps. If you’re used to a regular OT/NT Bible, the chronological is odd at first but super interesting. Excellent value for the price. Would make a great gift for guy or gal.

My only complaint is that it doesn't put Job after Genesis 11. Other than that, I love it.

Glad to have an actual ESV chronological Bible. Divided into daily readings. I think it will help me organize timelines correctly in my mind. Nice quality. Room enough for notes in the margins. Simple Bible. No frills. Thankful to have free access to God’s word. May He continue to grant us that mercy.

Just received this beautiful Bible after good research for many single column, wide margin Bibles. Excited to read the Bible extensively. Praying for Holy Spirit to guide me and opens up the revelations of God's living Word. Amen 🙏

I was grateful to have a chronological Bible. It helps especially with psalms and the prophets. But they are not all in chronological order. For example, they put chapters on the fall of Jerusalem before chapters on the siege of Jerusalem. Maybe it was on purpose but then it isn't chronological. Also, the daily readings could have been handled better. Some days it is too long and others not enough.
