Medium, not strong, hold as compared to other products. Nice consistency easy to apply
Pros- mat finish, almost no scent after application, goes on easy and has a reasonable, but not great, holdCons- scent inside the container is spicy and strong, takes some effort to wash from hands, hold is not strong on my hair (thick, short hair).Another user described the difference between waxes, clays, gels and similar products. They also described how to warm it into your hands and apply within (not just on top of) the hair. So I am not going to repeat what has been stated already. For my needs however, as a buy professional, I just want something that will go on fast and hold tight during a long work day, and wash off easy. A few of my products are so strong they last throughout exercise and sleep and over night. This product advertises as 'strong hold', but it cannot compare to the other products I have used. This might be because my hair is thick (even though it is short). The product does indeed go on fast. While I do not like the spicy smell in the container, after application, the scent disappears quickly. You have to rub it onto your hands for a few seconds, and you also have to spend a little time and effort to wash it off. You need soap. Overall, I see myself using my other strong hold products and letting this one age gracefully in my drawer. I may use it when my hair it extremely short.

Great alternative to Gel
I have never used clay for my hair treatment. I have many hair gel and spritz products and they all have great holding power with a sheen/shiny look.I was interested in getting the same holding power without the sheen and this HUX Matt clay product delivers. I have short hair and my first day of using the clay was an adventure as I had no clue of how to apply it. I then went to watch a couple of YouTube videos on how to use clay. WOW! Using clay is a different process entirely. In short:• use with dry hair• warm the clay in your hands for 10 seconds• apply by flowing your hands into your hair starting at the back of the head going to the front• also apply to the roots working upwards to coat all of the hair• shape the hairThis is a new hair styling method for me and takes a bit longer to get the finished look but I like the hold on my hair and there is no extra shine. In time, I can probably do this quicker with more practice. The clay in the jar has a smell reminiscent of citrus but once warmed into your hands, it has no discernible scent.Overall, a neat new hair treatment for me. I actually prefer it over the gel look. 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Too hard
This hair clay was too hard and waxy. Does not stay on the hair well. Turned flaky after an hour. I did not like it.

Was dried out, returned it
I know hair clay is not liquid, but it was completely dried out. Like a brick. Once I managed to get a little out, even water wouldn't help it. Returned it.

Smells Good And Easy To Work With—Creates Workable Textured Hairstyles
I like the way Hux Matt Clay works. It’s more pliable than other grooming aids I’ve used, and that’s a good thing. There’s nothing worse than applying something that’s too tacky and finding out it’s not re-workable. This formula is almost fool-proof: start with a small dab, rub between fingers and apply. I like the texture and added hair separation that this provides, and my hair keeps its style all day long.Best of all, this feels good and looks natural—doesn’t weigh hair down, and has a nice matte finish. The formula washes out easily, and doesn’t dry out my hair. This is a great formula for short, layered haircuts, like mine.

It's on!
So I gotta say, HUX Matt Clay is the real deal! I've been using this stuff on my shorter hair for a while now, and I'm definitely a fan. This product is designed to give you a low-sheen finish with a strong hold, and it does just that. One of the things I love about HUX Matt Clay is that I can use it with a good hair oil, and my hair still looks great the next day. I don't have to worry about my hair looking all messed up and greasy like some other products can make it. Plus, the 85g container lasts me a while, so it's definitely worth the investment.Overall, I'd recommend HUX Matt Clay to anyone who wants to achieve that choppy, textured look. It's easy to apply and gives you a strong hold without being too shiny or greasy. If you're looking for an everyday essential that won't let you down, this is the product for you!Fun fact, I had a high school friend named Matt Clay!

Good medium hold, almost like a fiber. Smells nice/manly. Doesn't feel stiff or tacky.
Love the matte finish more than anything else. Doesn't look too shiny or stiff, like it's just full of 'product', but instead just like a well maintained hairstyle. I thought it would be very similar to a fiber, which it is IMO. Application is similar, placing a small amount in your hands and rubbing to spread and warm before working through your hair. Can use very small amounts for troublesome areas (see colics). The hold is very solid, but still leaves your hair pliable and adjustable (fixable) throughout the day. Actually, it seems to become more manageable as the day goes on (possibly as your hair dries more, develops more oil?). Even a day later it can still be made up with little effort. The scent is very nice, a light citrus with hints of wood (maybe that's just me?). Washes out fairly easy with shampoo and water.
