Tilda's Winter Delights

Winter is upon us...make it Delightful! If you are familiar with "Tilda" you will know what to expect from this latest booklet by Tone Finnanger...lots of adorable projects! She completely lives up to her reputation and what we've come to expect with yet more of her sweet designs. There are two more character dolls; skating angel and chalet girl. The polar bear seen on the front cover is fully articulated and comes in large, medium, and small sizes (Papa, Mama, and Baby, perhaps?) Additional goodies include: hexagon balls (also shown on the cover,) hexagon placemat, Father Christmas, paper angels, and Christmas stockings. There are full-size patterns for all of these items. In addition, knitting instructions are given for the Chalet Girl's sweater and socks. In pretty photos scattered throughout we see how we can use Finnanger's designs in ways for which she doesn't offer patterns or instructions. Of these there is a quilted pillowcase, quilt (not shown, suggested by making the pillowcase larger,) and a hexagon ornament. If you are NOT familiar with Tone Finnanger's Tilda characters and booklets--BE AWARE that as said above some items pictured within the booklet have NO patterns and NO instructions. In addition, some of the instructions are not detailed and all of the materials lists do not specify amounts needed or what kind of something you might need. An example of this is: "doll hair." I use Twice as Nice brand, Popcorn Doll Hair . Update 1/2015: Amazon now carries Tilda doll hair in Blonde , Light Brown , White , and Dark Brown . In addition, there are other Tilda supplies that I used to only be able to find on Amazon's UK site. To make the hexagon balls and placemat a knowledge of paper-piecing is necessary. I have never paper-pieced and for me to make these items I would need further instruction. All-in-all, as a collector of Tilda, I am happy with this latest offering. I especially love the polar bears, angel skater, and chalet girl. UPDATE: 3/6/2015 Photos added.

I am addicted to Tone Finnanger's Tilda book series. They contain very unique ideas and projects. Patterns and directions are easy to understand. The books themselves contain beautiful layouts and photographs as well.

As always Tone Finanger has some very cute ideas and projects in this book! The sewing projects are very doable, and patterns (you may need to enlarge some) are included.

Some cute patterns but I mainly got it so I could make the polar bear for my niece. I deducted a star because the bottom of the binding was bent up a bit.

Bought this book to make the polar bear. I love it. Very easy to make and just in an afternoon. Looks very professional. Just aged a ribbon to top it off!

Very Sweet.I love it! I am a real Tilda fan! I have all of her craft books! Looking forward to the next one! She has a very cute and whimsical style.So far I have made her chicken and goose in dungarees and goosey has a hat! Her patterns are easy to follow.You must know sewing basics .though and how to stuff well.She gives lots of good tips too for making your dolls and animals.

Made several little polar bears from the patterns in this book. So adorable. Love them to bits. Can't wait to make more projects from this book. Beautiful Tilda book as always. Signature Tilda style projects and lovely photos as always.

Der Inhalt dieses Buches gefällt mir sehr gut da der Inhalt in keinem bisher Deutschen Buch zu finden ist, es ist zwar in Englisch aber wer schon die Tilda Sachen kennt kommt sehr gut damit zurecht. Das Preisverhältnis ist auch sehr gut.

A really beautiful book in itself. I was so inspired by the photos to recreate the characters. Even though I am just a beginner at sewing, I found them a lot easier than they looked. I love the idea that all the patterns are in the back of the book to trace. I am now building up a collection of all her books.
