Yes, you can premix Tailwind hours before use (and even store it in the refrigerator for around 7 days). If you wanted to mix it up prior to an event, you can do that as well several hours beforehand.

Hi Mask,

Thanks for your question, it sounds like a question about making concentrates.

Basically it says “it’s OK to make a concentrate, but make sure you drink enough water,” and doesn’t give a specific recipe. One of the reasons for this is that the recipes will be quite different for mixtures that are shaken (during a run or ride), and mixtures that stand and are allowed to settle. 
 
It turns out that 8 hours of Tailwind, 3 scoops per hour, or 24 scoops, will fit in a 750 ml bike bottle (I used level scoops), but only after it’s mixed with water. The volume of Tailwind powder mixed in water is a lot less than the sum of the volume of Tailwind powder and the volume of water added to it. Hot water works better. 
 
Here’s a method for 8 hours of Tailwind concentrate in a 750 ml bike bottle: 
                1) Add 6 hours worth (18 level scoops) of Tailwind to a 750 ml water bottle
                2) Add 200 ml of hot water (electric kettle works well here), and shake well. Notice the volume goes way down
                3) Add 2 more hours worth (6 level scoops) of Tailwind
                4) Add another 100 ml of hot water, and shake well
                5) Notice there’s some room to spare … add another 80-90 ml hot water, whatever fits
 
However, I might suggest a less concentrated formula, because in order to use this concentrate you’re going to need a second water bottle. So why not start with that second water bottle already mixed up? 
 
Some options for 8 hours on the bike:
 
1) Two water bottles:  One bottle with one hour’s worth (3 scoops Tailwind, 720 ml water), one concentrate bottle with 7 more hours
2) Three water bottles:  Two bottles with one hour’s worth (3 scoops Tailwind, 720 ml water), and one concentrate bottle with 6 more hours
3) Four water bottles:  Three with Tailwind mixed up, on concentrate bottle with 5 more hours
 
Remember that if you eat other food (sandwich, gels, bars, spaghetti carbonara, whatever) you should drink just water with it, as Tailwind and food together can be a little much for you stomach.
