FunnyBone Books: American History Comic Books: Twelve Reproducible Comic Books With Activities Guaranteed to Get Kids Excited About Key Events and People in American History Review: American History Comic Book - I really like this book. I have a second grade boy, who at times has been hard to persuade to read. When we got this book, he only wanted to read the graphic novel format. This worked wonderfully. He still pulls tidbits out of thin air and when I ask where he learned that fact, he says, "from that history comic book you got me." Hey, if a comic book helps him learn history, I'm all for it. It's short, it's only a small portion of history, but it's a good introduction, especially if you have a child that is interested in comics. Review: Great for Struggling or Disengaged Reading - I teach 6th Grade US History, and it's often hard for my kids to get engaged with reading, especially since they are lower readers. This comic book has been a godsend. The students really enjoy it, and they actually like to read it. I wish there were more of these! Seriously! I'd buy every single thing just so the kids would read more!

They enjoyed it and it was a good start to class ...
I used the Boston Tea Party Comic and the Women's Rights Comic as soon as I got this book with my 7th and 8th graders. They enjoyed it and it was a good start to class discussion. I wish there were more comics in this book though, there is nothing on Civil Rights, the World Wars, or Vietnam.

COMICS SHOULD BE IN COLOR
Part of my disappointment is that I didn't look at the inside of the book to find out that the comics were in black and white. I guess I should have realized that because it does say that they comics are reproducible. Very disappointing that they were not in color. Have not given it to the grandchildren yet but I bought other historical comics that are in color so I think this one will be a disappointment. It was to me.

Learning History Doesn't Have to be Difficult
I work with ESL students, and this book was a great help to them as they were struggling to understand their U.S. History class. The pictures did a great job filling in the gaps for them of concepts/events that they did not understand. Pictures transcend words!

Great
Great enrichment for my grade 5 social studies classes. The kids love assignments, being creative , and generating their own comics.

Comics on important American events
Great for middle school - answer the questions or give every other page and have them fill in the blanks
