desertcart.com: Edexcel Gcse Music Revision Guide: 9781907447099: Charlton, Alan: Books Review: The best student revision guide and the one I tell my student to invest in if they want one. Short concise sections on each of the set works that are to the point and highlight key points. There is a little on each section on the work/composer and then each of the main elements that you study is set out clearly. There are musical examples and questions too although no answers you have to look through he sections to find them if you have not learnt them. Please note that this guide is only for the old GCSE and does not have the key works for the new one. This means that if you are sitting your exam in June 2017 you need this book otherwise look for the GCSE 1-9 as they are the new set works for the new GCSE. As a guide goes well set out and to the point. Review: I had originally bought my daughter the CGP music revision guide but this one was recommended to her by a friend, and once it arrived was the only one that she used. She said it was much more relevant to the exam than CGP, and contained all she needed to know about the set works. It covers structure, melody, rhythm/metre/tempo, tonality/harmony and texture/dynamics etc. of each piece, along with background information. I used it to test her before the exam and was impressed by the amount of information it contained and the way it was set out. A great purchase.

This book is an incredibly helpful guide for revising for the Music GCSE exam. I took my exam in 2012 and this book acted as an excellent guide to help with personal revision and I especially found when revising with friends. The questions for review at the end of each piece act as really helpful way to keep the knowledge fresh in your head. Would completely recommend this book to anyone taking the edexcel GCSE course, teachers should recommend this book more.

It was a great product for my GCSE music exam because it covered everything that I needed to know, so can't ask for much more than that.

This book is excellent. It contains all you need to know for the Listening exam part of the Edexcel Music GCSE. The low cost - less than half of the price of the Pearson Study Guide - means that you get a black and white "all you need" version of the listening content. As a revision tool, it does a brilliant job, being short and sweet but packed full of content. It is learnable too. There are questions for each set work as well as a break down for each piece described under the elements of music that you might find in the long questions 9 & 10. Highly recommended to both students and teachers. You will not regret buying this book in the slightest.
