Great travel bag for the value
I wanted to buy something I could carry on for flights and not be forced to check in if a flight was full (like a hard shell roller/carry on). I have only used this bag for one trip so far, but I'm so pleased with the quality, particularly at this price. I packed enough clothes to last me 4-5 days with no issues, and was also able to easily fit a book, a large travel mug, etc without expanding the bag. Would have easily fit my laptop if I wanted. The bag felt really light and comfortable to carry. Way easier and less bulky than a duffel. It didn't take much overhead bin space, and I imagine it could fit underneath the seat. Will attempt the next time I fly. One reviewer did mention it bulges in the middle due to strap placement on the sides. It's a minor issue. I imagine if you pack a certain way, you can minimize the bulge. It's not a good enough reason for me to deter recommending this bag, which I highly do.

Perfect carryon size when you don't need your laptop
Perfect carryon dimensions, no laptop pocket = more room for two weeks of clothing, compression zipper and four straps on outside to assist in compressing the backpack to maintain carryon dimensions, elastic "x" strap inside holds clothing secure, padded back for comfortable wearing, padded handles top and side for easy overhead stowing, two small and one very large exterior flat pockets, one very large inside mesh pocket, and one small secure pocket that rides against your back. Padded shoulder straps with chest strap, zippered stow pocket for shoulder straps, two sturdy rings low on either side (could clip on waist strap or small front pack). No water bottle pocket or charging port (not needed on this trip.) This is the no nonsense carryon I've been seeking! I bought the green (on sale) but it'd be nice to have a greater choice in colors. Seems sturdy - will edit this review if it fails me.

Great for Clothes for a Few Days of Travel
I was not looking for a bag to store electronics or books. I wanted a bag that could hold 3 or 4 days of clothing, a few toiletries, and an extra pair of shoes. This would be a bag to either use alone for a short trip and a bag that would provide immediate clothing in case my larger luggage was delayed. I wanted it to open widely so I could efficiently pack and if going through TSA or customs to open fully in case its contents needed inspection. No USB ports, multiple pockets for "stuff", etc. One that could fit into any airlines carry-on dimensions and one that I could put on my back while I rolled my larger case, strap to the luggage handle, or carry (It has grips for BOTH the long and short dimensions!) This is the bag! It does have a small concealment pocket for passport, tickets, etc. at the back when used as a backpack, an interior pocket for a tablet if desired but that folds flat if not desired. The shoulder straps and back are vented which should prove comfortable in hot climates. Bottom-line, it's perfect for my travel criteria. The bag appears well made though usage will ultimately judge if its sufficiently rugged. I would prefer YKK metal zippers, but these seem fine (again, usage over many years of travel will test the ruggedness). I would not load this backpack with several books or heavy objects - that's not its intended purpose.

Great carryon backpack for seniors
Addition to original review: have to mention once again, if you want a light backpack style carryon that gives you exceptional freedom on a trip, this is the bag. I can fit a weeks worth of Spring through Fall clothing and accessories using 4 packing cubes. Again, I wouldnt overstuff it and put too much starin on then seams but with care I can see this bag lasting several years as a carryon . Original review: I’ve taken this backpack to France and Greece and couldn’t be happier with the results. I use a set of Amazon basics packing cubes and the four of them fit perfectly in the 20” size backpack. I fit all the clothes I needed for a May trip to Greece, it was really good to only carry the backpack and a small under seat bag. The zippered areas on top are great for organizing your things as is the mesh area inside. Please keep in mind, this is a great carryon, I would shudder to think what baggage handlers could do to it. I would also not load it to the extreme and pull the compression straps too tightly, it is just sewn fabric. I carried roughly 20lbs total in it during the trip and had no problems. If it doesn’t last forever, no big deal, at its price point I see another one in the future. I am a 73 year old fit senior and could carry it all day, properly adjusted it’s very comfortable and the top and side handles make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces

The Amazing "Everything Fits" Bag
I cannot rave about this bag enough. It's nice looking, durable, spacious, versatile and just plain awesome. I crammed so much stuff in this bag for traveling abroad, no one could believe it. Toiletries, iPad, books, snacks, a change of clothes, medications, tissues, a travel pillow, blanket, headphones, flip flops, a notebook, markers and more. The bag expands, if necessary, and has plenty of clasps, zippers, and elastic organizer straps to keep everything in its place. On my way back home, the Airport Giftshop was calling my name. I bought 3 bone china cups, 2 small bowls, a stained glass window hanging and some candy. Guess where all that stuff went? Yep...right into this cool backpack, all wrapped in tissue so they wouldn't break! The wide straps make it comfortable to use as a back pack, BUT ALSO, there is a nice padded handle if you want to carry it like a duffle bag. I love this bag. I got the eyeroll from my daughter for bringing so much crap with me and then buying more stuff at the airport, but hey, I carried it all with ease (and, because of that eyeroll, I'm not sharing that candy with her!). This bag is EVERYTHING!

I decided to try this backpack as my carryon for my Summer Eurotrip and it sure did deliver! Everything was organized and fit to all airline specs for carryons making it so easy to be hands free. Highly recommend this as your travel backpack! I also loved the colour way I bought it in (offwhite/brown).

I'm very satisfied with this bag - it accomplishes everything I'd hoped for. I wanted a bag that's as efficient as possible (ie. a simple rectangular bag that meets carry-on size requirement and allows for stowing/hiding all the straps), yet provides a decent backpacking option. This bag really fits the bill. It's at maximum carry-on size when EXPANDED, so when not expanded it keeps nice and firmly packed (bear in mind this is a 'soft shell' bag, even though it looks like a firm, rectangular suitcase in the images.) The straps tuck away in the back, snap on easily, and offer sufficient support for a pretty significant hike in good comfort. Though I never did any real hiking with it, I tested it fully-loaded (and overloaded) with water & wine bottles, and it carried that weight admirably. I used it on a 3-week trip in Europe where we had a rental car, so I was only hauling it back and forth small distances, but it seems tough enough for far heavier usage. (I'm dubious about the water-resistance, but never tested that.) All in all, I love it! It's what I hoped for.
