Memory Notebooks of Nursing CD-ROM

This CD contains all the images (JPEG -no audio as mistated in listing) from the latest 3 Volumes of Memory Notebooks of Nursing, with Mnemonics word association schemes to assist in remembering the information. This CD may be better than the actual books, as the images in the books are in Black & White (apparently to allow user to color the pictures!), but on this CD, images are all in color! This CD plays under Windows and Apple / Mac Operating Systems, though when I exited the program in Windows 7, a Windows Error message popped up, saying it may "Not have installed Correctly" suggesting "Windows Compatbility Mode" Ironically, on the disks Instruction / Help section, it shows all the demonstration program's open 'windows' as the style of 'window' used by the MAC Operating System, NOT a Windows 'window' -even though running under Windows 7 at the time! One annoying feature of this CD, is, you CAN'T run it like a slideshow (viewing each image sequentially, like turning pages in a book) You have to select single image from a Menu, then view it, THEN go BACK to Menu, select next image, view it, back to Menu, select next image, etc. etc. -very tedious! Around 2009, I obtained the earlier predicessor version of this CD, and only months later, after misplacing it, discovered it was impossible to find a replacement. It was no longer available (new) anywhere! Currently, when I discovered NEW version available (copyright on CD is 2012), I snatched up several copies directly from Amazon! NOW, it appears it is NO LONGER available from Amazon, and alternate sellers of NEW copies seem to be very scarce! If you want one, you'd better snatch it up soon, before it disappears completely, like the earlier version did around 5 years ago! Update: This CD apparently does not actually install, at least in MAC OS X, it runs directly off the CD Rom, which is odd, because their license agreement says you can run it on TWO computers! Also, it requires Adobe Flash to run, in both MAC OS X and Windows 7. New Update: Unfortunately, the LATEST Version of Flash Player will NOT PLAY THIS CD in Apple / MAC Operating System!! (don't know if Windows Version of Flash Player still works) All you get now, is Blue Screen! See Comment below, for MAC OS 'work around'

Buy this, not the books! The books are in black and white. This disk has the pics in full color and you can copy and paste into word documents and resize them to your liking. Great info and helps me remember the content. I started using these in my first semester and I love them. I print out the picture small enough so I can still read it. I place the pic in the center of a word doc page and print it up. Then I make notes all around the page with arrows to content in the pic.

The CD had a tamper seal on it that wasn't broken, but my CD has scratches all over it. There is no way this was new, my computer can't even read what is on it so I can use it. Huge waste of $70.00. I don't even want to try to go through the process to exchange it but I clearly have no other choice. I wish I could give this less than 1 star.

Some of the info seems a little outdated, especially with meds. It also seemed like there were a few errors. Bought the CD to use the images to study for the NCLEX last year, which was great--because of the mnemonics, a great study tool for me--but I think the publisher should probably get these edited and updated to make them a little higher quality.

Great tool when you are trying to learn so much in such a short period of time. I print out the pictures and place them with my concept maps I make for each illness that they pertain to. They are a great study tool for all visual learners.
