Calibrite Display Plus HL: Precision Colour Calibration for Demanding Creatives with the Latest Display Technology

Excellent Product for my Photography needs replacing my old unit 12+ yrs old.

I’ve used it to calibrate three monitors (two hardware-calibrated, one software ICC profile) and a TV (hardware-calibrated), and it’s made everything far more accurate. Of course, you’re limited by the display’s capabilities, but being able to get a fairly uniform colour space and gamma across a dual-monitor setup - one from 2018 and another from 2023 - with minimal visible variation is incredible. Given that most monitors are poorly calibrated “out of the box” - even the ones claiming to be factory-calibrated - this device is invaluable. I use it regularly to check for colour drift and correct it when needed. It’s genuinely surprising to see how much your display can shift over the course of a few months (or even weeks). It’s simple enough to use, though beginners (as I was when I first bought it) will definitely benefit from doing a bit of research first. The companion software states recommended settings for ICC profiling, but doesn’t really explain why they’re suggested, which can be confusing at first. It comes with a decent pouch for portability and storage (although it’s not protective in any way), and a handy USB-C to USB-A adapter. I’ve used it successfully for hardware calibration in ColorNavigator 7 (Eizo ColorEdge CG247X) and LG Calibration Studio (LG 32UN880K). Both work fine and are compatible, though the device may appear as Pro HL rather than Plus HL when connected. It also works well for creating ICC profiles using Calibrite Profiler, though on Mac it can be tricky to tell what base profile the device uses or should use. Yes, it’s an investment - and not a cheap one - but for anyone working creatively, or approving creative work, it’s essential. My colour grades and Photoshop edits are now far more consistent across devices. There will always be some variation, but this brings things into a reliable, accurate middle ground. Honestly, I just wish I’d bought one sooner.

I have knocked a star off because there are incompatibilities that can cause problems. Support was not much use. I discovered that a driver from a previous unrelated device was causing the device to be not detected. Yet to use to actually calibrate as going on holiday. Will update when used in anger.

Way too complicated, you need a degree to figure this out. Way over priced too.
