Truly Fragrance Free
I have been using this product for years and what I love most about it is that it is fragrance free and the ingredients are cleaner than most products. It's such a pleasure to shower and be fresh and clean instead of perfumed. Many products experience bleed of fragrances on the manufacturing line from the other products they manufacture and I have never had that problem with this one. The ingredients do not irritate the skin on my back either. It works rather well as a conditioner. When my hair is extra dry and I need more conditioning power I add a tiny bit of mayonnaise.

Formulation Changed w/o Explanation: Thin, Watery, Gelatinous. Doesn't Work Well.
I am revivewing the Lavender Shampoo. I used this product for years, starting maybe around 2005-7ish, and I loved it. They have reformulated it slightly over the years, but it stayed a good shampoo. In the past, they'd always announce on the bottle when the formulation changed. Well, recently, I boughts two bottles of it from two different sources: one from Amazon, and one from a local retail store. Both bottles are an entirely different product. The texture is completely different: it's thin, and watery, but also somewhat gelatinous. It comes out of the bottle very quickly, but the surface is kind of jiggly. The old texture of the product was entirely different: it was thicker and more viscous, coming out of the bottle slowly. With the new product, I need to use much more of it to achieve a good lather. However, I find it dries out my hair and also the skin on my hands more. This shampoo is marketed as for average-to-dry hair so I would expect it not to dry hair out as much as an average shampoo, and, the old shampoo worked like this. I called Hain Celestial Group's phone support, and the people were very nice and offered to send me coupons. They told me that the product's formulation had not been changed, because if it had, they would have announced it on the bottle. But here's the thing. It clearly is not the same product. They are lying to me. Now, I don't mean anything bad about the customer service reps. They are just doing their jobs. But this whole thing just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I don't appreciate being toyed with by big corporations. If you want to change the formulation of your shampoo, explain it to me. Own up to what you are doing. Amazon was very generous and refunded me the cost of the shampoo, and I appreciate that. But here's the thing, I'm still left without the old shampoo I used to use, and still want to use. Now I'm going to have to begin the frustrating and somewhat costly process of experimenting to find a new shampoo I like. And I have no idea what happened, and what explains the change of texture in this product. It's confusing and leaves me feeling betrayed and out of control. And I've wasted time and energy pursuing this issue that was entirely unnecessary. Not a great experience.

Gluten free hair magic
I love the shampoo in this line, but I wasn't expecting much from this conditioner given the reviews. Wow was I wrong. To start with, I have very thick long coarse wavy hair that needs a ton of conditioner. To top that, I'm allergic to silicones, gluten, citrus fruits, and fragrances - try finding a conditioner without any of that stuff. I've been looking for YEARS to find a conditioner that I could use to make my hair less like hay, and I think this might be the one. I'll admit I got a bit nervous at first because the formula seems a bit thick when you apply it - thick like hand lotion. I left it on my hair for 3 minutes. When I rinsed it out, I was instantly terrified because my hair felt like wet straw. It felt like I didn't even use conditioner. But I held out hope and I left my wet hair up in a towel for a while, then brushed it out before blow drying it. While I brushed I noticed that now that my hair had excess water removed from it, it felt very easy to comb. My hair was actually softer too. Hair magic had occurred. I blow dried my hair and it dried quickly, without losing any of the softness. My hair is very shiny and smooth now! I <3 this and will absolutely rebuy it over and over.

Good, but not for me.
This didn't work for me, I used it all. But I have corse hair and alot of it. It didn't moisturize it enough. But I also have sensitive skin, it was fine with my sensitivity but I like my hair to feel silky soft and this didn't do it. I think it would work better for a more thin hair type.

This isn’t it.
For reference: I have thin (but a lot) of loose curls. I’m 46. For me this conditioner isn’t it. It makes my curls fall flat and when I straighten my hair, it’s even flatter. I like the scent, it’s lovely and I really like the natural ingredients. It’s just missing something that adds hydration to hair I think.

Poor Conditioning
This product made my hair feel like it wasn't conditioned at all. Felt like it stripped my hair and left it feeling dry.

I've used Avalon products, for years, and LOVE them
I especially like the Lavender shampoo and conditioner; if Lavender is not available, I use their Rosemary version. Several years ago, I also used their Scalp Treatment Tea Tree shampoo; it really helped get rid of the dandruff on my scalp, and it hasn't returned.

Worst conditioner I've ever used
I've used the avalon organics shampoo for years at this point with no troubles, I thought I'd finally try their conditioner as well. Huge mistake. Worst hair product I've ever tried. IT'S GUNK. It doesn't wash out easily you have to sit there and scrub three times over to get it out of your hair. It doesn't make your hair soft, it doesn't detangle, it doesn't hydrate. It doesn't do anything. THE WORST. I can't even force myself to finish the bottle, after 3 uses I'm throwing it out.

Really natural and gentle on your hair with a healthy shine and fresh lavender fragrance.

Really not happy about this product. I'm a celiac and have psoriasis on my scalp too. The shampoo strips all moisture from the hair and you have to use a fair amount to get even a small lather maybe that's why? The conditioner though makes the shampoo look fantastic. It's horrendous. It leaves such a greasy residue on the hair. I have really dry hair, I've never experienced greasy hair before this conditioner. It really difficult to to spread the conditioner... it doesn't distribute at all and then when you rinse it don't come out and I rinsed for ages!!! which is probably why the hair is so yucky when it's dry. I recon after long use you'll have a severe build up on the scalp. Had to use head and shoulders to clear the build up. So disappointed.
