Chinese Wallpaper in Britain and Ireland

Beautiful book with useful info for my chinoiserie painting practice.

All the amazing photos aside, the book is filled with the history of these wallpapers and covers this indepth. There is much to learn if you are at all interested in the subject.

As an avid reader of Emile de Bruijin's blog for the National Trust Collections, I was excitedly waiting for this book and I cannot think of anyone more qualified to write it. At last now there is a book that features this beautiful and singular style of wallpaper, which has been an enduring force in interior design for centuries. The photos are clear and colorful, the writing is likewise beautiful. Not since French Scenic Wallpaper 1795-1865 have I treasured a book this much!

Glorious history of when and why these highly valued papers imported and how the taste/desire for them spread. Lots of colored photographs to fill the eye. Pauline de Rothschild's beautiful bedroom was included but equally wonderful xome eamples of colors I had not seen before. Very well done and much needed.

beautiful book - very informative - stunning interiors

Wonderful book by Emile de Bruijn, heritage professional with the National Trust working in collections management. He organises, documents and publicizes acquisitions of works of art and historical objects for the Trust. This long awaited and singular book is rich with excellent photos of entire rooms and as well as details. The content is both erudite and riveting. Thank you.

This book provides a lot of information about Chinoiserie. It's fun to read the fascinating history of the development of Chinoiserie. I guess is the most comprehensive one on the market. Also, it contains lots of valuable pictures. It's a great treasure!

I'd wanted this book for ages and wasn't disappointed. Lavishly illustrated and wonderful quality of photography and print finish. Explores and documents the limited and really exceptional examples of original and historic Chinese wallpaper which adorns the walls of some of our historic houses. Not skimpy on the text, either, well written and full of information. A really lovely book.

Chinoiserie fans good Refference for pleasure or study + the cover is pretty - so I’ve left it out to leaf through regularly it’s a welcome addition to my library
