what can i say, years ago i saw this with my family in the 70s, and re watching this made all the memories come back, sentimental ? yes, but an honest review i shall give. they really do not make films like this anymore, like most films from disney of old, they put a lot of effort and atmosphere into their films, unlike later releases. dean jones and peter ustinov make a great pairing on screen, the story is fun and has many laughs and kids will love it, this film immerses you into a world of disney that has been lost for many years. if like me you like to secretly watch disney films then this is one to keep, with or without family, just a good feel good film. i hope you buy it because it is a classic.

One of my most favourite films, fancy a ghost of a famous pirate appearing in the present and causing mayhem and yet doing something great in the end. Peter Ustinov and Dean Jones are the best actors in the era this movie was made. Me and my family just could not stop laughing whilst watching it. We will never see great stories like this one any more especially by Walt Disney, which is why it is a film worth getting and keeping, even if it does not have any extras.

This is a very old movie, for the age etc the movie quality is actually very good, yes grainy, but not bad. All the opening before the movie actually kicks in looks awful, super grainy, BUT once the movie gets going its clears up a great deal.

Disney really knew how to make 'em. Cracking yarn about a team coach who accidently invokes the ghost of Blackbeard (played brilliantly by the late great Peter Ustinov). Bound to the coach by an ancient curse he walks alongside him (Unseen by others) creating havoc aplenty until some good deed is done by him and he can pass over. A fun day on the track & field event competition will have you curled up with laughter as Cap'n Blackbeard takes charge and the fight scenes towards the end will have your ribs aching from laughing so hard. A real family treat. 5*****

Git this for my daughter who loves 60s silly films and she loves it and watches it alot!! I mean who doesn't love blackboard!!

Never seen this before, not a cheap made film. We liked it, easy going, amusing and suitable for all ages.

This has to be one of the best actor Disney Movies ever made, right up there if not better than the Witch Mountain Movies. Ustinov is just brilliant in the role of Blackbeard. Great Movie for the whole family to watch together! Thanks Amazon !

Sorry to say the special FX didn't hold the attention of my grand children, but I loved it. Really was as good as When I first watched it at the Cinema all those years ago. Peter Ustinov excelled as always. If you haven't seen it catch PU in The Sundowners.

I saw this Disney classic the first time when I was very young and till the time I grew up, "Blackbeard's Ghost" became one of the favourite and most watched video tapes in our family. It's always combined with a mixed feeling when you get the chance to relive moments of the past and to buy and watch older movies which you loved liked anything a long time ago. I always fear that "the magical touch", the special humour or the story's singularity, got somehow lost over all the years... but not with this movie! I watched this with my wife and daughter, both of them not closely acquainted with these Disney classics or with Peter Ustinov movies... and we all had a blast and lot of fun. The excellent acting - for me one of Ustinov's finest performances as badly behaving, undead pirate - and the funny and direct storytelling completely make up for the fact, that this movie is more than 40 years old... which makes it a comedy classic in the end. Highly recommened for the whole family (well, 6+ maybe -) and for everyone who likes strong humour - and who remembers Blackbeard's hilarious manipulations of the athletic competitition in his desperate conquest for redemption.

¡Genial película! Es una de las poco conocidas de entre las películas Disney de acción real y es una lástima porque es muy divertida y tiene muy buenas interpretaciones.

..per tutti gli appassionati della commedia Disney La colonna sonora di questa edizione ha soltanto le tracce Inglese e Spagnolo, ma trattandosi di un film di qualche annetto fa... l'inglese non è fatto solo di "bang" e "crash" Efetti speciali all'avanguardia come nella migliore tradizione Disney. Da vedere 1000 volte coi bambini....a volte non è difficile incuriosirli con la visione in lingua originale. Peccato solo che manchi la traccia in italiano ....arriverà mai?
