Catch Me If You Can [Blu-ray] [2002] [Region Free]

Really brilliant film, was recommended by my daughter.

The film directed by Steven Spielberg is, if but loosely based on a true story telling of how a teenager Frank Abagnale (played in the film by Leonardo DiCaprio) after the breakup of his parents marriage, runs away and over a period of 3/4 years not only evades capture by the F.B.I, he manages to accumulate around $4 million by cashing cheques he has learned to forge. Initially Frank jnr. manages to con his way into becoming an airline-pilot cashing forged pay-cheques, the deception takes several weeks to surface bringing F.B.I agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) on the case of finding young Frank. However, changing his name frequently helps him stay one step ahead of his pursuers, even changing his profession along the way to that of a Doctor. Carl Hanratty will get close of several occasions to catching the young con-man, however, the teen remains alert to the threat. Young Frank will even try his hand at being a Lawyer and almost marry the boss's daughter. Frank's luck will eventually run out, but, he'll Kinda still have the last laugh. The film also stars Christopher Walken as Frank's father and Martin Sheen as his boss in the Law-Firm. A film I myself haven't watched for many years, had forgotten just how good and often amusing the film really if.....Until now. With a great cast line-up the film is certainly worthy of a revisit or indeed first viewing

My reviews of Blu-Ray discs refer to the quality of the sound and vision rather than the content of the film. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN Movie Release Year: 2002 Barcode: 5051368234533 Picture. For a movie of this vintage (15 years) they have made a really good transfer. Not quite as sharp as a blu-ray that we would expect from a film from 2016, but an excellent clean visual presentation. Score 4.2 / 5.0 Sound. The disc has DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Great sound. Nothing outstanding, just a nice mix. Score 4.0 / 5.0 Another score I include is Repeatability. This is open to personal opinion though. My Score 4.0 / 5.0 Equipment used for the above review… Samsung 40” TV……………12 months old Yamaha 7.1 Amplifier………10 Years old Panasonic Blu-Ray player….9 Years old 7 KEF Speakers (Various Models and Age) + Yamaha Subwoofer…25 Years Old. I try to buy the best version of a film, be it Blu-Ray or DVD. Never buy on the release date if l can help it. Do extensive research on any film l may want to buy. Many films have been remastered especially on Blu-Ray but even after that, they may not be much better than the DVD version, so beware. Film companies issue more than one version of a film. Picking the best one by reading reviews is really the only way to guarantee good quality sound & vision for the film you want. Hence the above. Hope this will help with sourcing the right version for when your ready to purchase.

Great Blue Ray DVD. Excellent quality and the movie of course is genius

If you don't know this movie, try it. It's Spielberg, Hanks and DeCaprio, and a pleasantly warming story loosely based on a true story. I say loosely because read Abagnale's book, which you would expect to be truthful, and the film ditches a few key happenings. But that said it's a great movie, some suspense and I love it.

The only reason I don't give this a higher rating is because it has some sadness about it (the death of his father and abandonment issues with his mother). Does have a happy, though rather querky, ending ,

Steven Spielberg's sixties adventure has a terrific premise, of being true, De caprio playing a fraudster, whom is both played with sympathy by De caprio, he is hotly pursued by Tom hanks, whom is warm and funny, and only knows one joke. Supported by Chris Walken (playing De caprio's father), Amy Adams, jennifer Garner, Martin Sheen, it is both very funny and serious. Spielberg directs adroitly & even throws in a reference to "Goldfinger", which is pulled off brilliantly. If you are a Spielberg or De Caprio fan (or both) , invest in this. Excellent

Based on a true story, great flick

This is a great movie based on a true story.

Both lead players did an excellent job. The story moved from one adventure to another. There was no meanness...a pleasant break from the daily news.

I received the order on time in perfect condition and already watched it (again) This is one of my favorite Steven Spielberg films , Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio are 2 of my favorite actors as well, a great true story that is a must see in my opinion. If you like upbeat and fun kinda movies with a happy ending check this out.
