He loves it!
Got this for my husband for his birthday and he just loves it! He says the syllabus has improved from last time and it's quite beautiful inside. I remember those old AQA textbooks 😅 Albeit for biology, chemistry and physics. So nice the inside is more colourful with some pastel tones. Made me want to learn Econ for myself ☺️

Excellent volume
I have the fourth edition and can't bring myself to fork out the for fifth! I have enjoyed Ray Powell's book over many years as an A Level economics teacher. Most economics text books are two dimensional, boring and plodding; one point to the next. Powell's books are different; they are deeper and more interesting with insights most other textbooks miss. He thinks like an economist not a machine and makes the subject interesting.

There's better for cheaper
As an Econ teacher this isn't great. The writing isn't always clear, it uses a lot of graphs most other textbooks don't I.E it's Fixed Exchange Rate graph is a lot harder for my students to remember than even older editions versions or other texts. There's better textbooks for students and teachers and even older editions of this are better, as long as you are mindful of curriculum changes. Not to mention labelling sections as extention material that are fundamental to the exam and applications to the real world articles with follow up questions sometimes unfounded in the articles or requiring students to research what sometimes feels like stats that are useless and seem more like filler over substance
