Works great as customizeable stereo power meter
I use a class-D power amp which has continuous 400kHz 300mv carrier. I've tried other stereo power meters where either the amp carrier biased the meter up to 0.1 watt, had too narrow a useful power range, or both. My listening is typically less than 1 watt, so I was able to calibrate this meter to 1 watt at the 0dB reading. Full scale, +6 db, corresponds to 8 watts. The response is faster than other meters I've used so it seems useful for capturing peaks. And thankfully it ignores the amp carrier so it reads zero with no signal. One thing tripped me - the signal input for VU1 is the yellow lead, not the read one on the same side as the VU1 jacks.

Good value for experienced electronics DIY
Pros: the meters are large, look great, and work nicely. Backlights are bluish-white.Cons: power supply not included, some soldering required, instructions are not very clear. I had to trace out LED back light polarity with DMM.The driver circuit is the common TS-VU003. It works with either line level audio source, or speaker terminals. The documentation is very poor, but if you're good with electronics you can figure it out.The meters look nice and work well, but they are litterally held together with scotch tape. I thought it was temporary, as it wraps from the back to the sides of the meters. But when I started taking that tape off, it became clear that's whats holding them together. Also, there is no mounting hardware for the meters, and no mounting holes either. Maybe use hot glue.My goal is to make a sensitive AC millivolt meter for electronics work bench for guitars and pedals. I may replace the driver board or just create a high-Z preamp for it...
