The colors are much more vibrant. Easier to set your color on this newer version. It doesn't have to be pitch dark to set your colors or view the colors, like the old ones. Remember, it only works in the dark, so to try out the motion sensor, it has to be dark. I have had 3 of these type of devices. This one seems to be the nicest. And the colors are better. I like it because my husband doesn't have to turn on the bathroom light at night to use the toilet. You can also adjust the dimness or brightness of the light on this device. Something I didn't have on old ones. The directions are written clearly and it sets up and works as the directions say. I highly recommend it. I hope it lasts a long time, the others didn't last a whole year. We will see. So far, it's promising.

I have one in every bathroom and have given them as stocking stuffers at Christmas. They work great, some have better motion sensors than others but they have all worked. If the only color you get is red, it's time to change the batteries, or it may not light up at all. The ones I had lasted several years. Clean them every few days to a week with disinfecting wipes and be careful not to wet the battery compartment. I just ordered 4 more to be sure I have some in stock as 2 of mine finally pooped out (no pun intended).

I'ts nice I don't have to turn on the light in the middle of the night. I didn't use the air freshener so I don't know about that that one.

No fiddling with light switch at night and seldom needs a charge .

Bought this for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas because she saw it at a friend's house and wanted one too. This is well made and provides great color options along with the auto color change mode. My only issue is it is very sensitive to ambient light and turns off as soon as it is detected. This was a easy problem to solve! Time to use my engineering degree for something useful;) I carefully pried the plastic case open, applied black electrical grease tape over the photoresistor( the sensor left of the large silver motion sensor), and put the case back together. I didn't have glue to hold the case back together so I just used the electrical tape. Be careful when prying the case open, you have to carefully loosen and break the glue so not to break the plastic body. Also, make sure you align the push button switch with the case hole. FYI, please do this at your own risk. This is only what I wanted to do. I nor the manufacturer are liable for any damage to your glow bowl. Now I have a motion detection only glowbowl that works day or night! Just the way I and my daughter want it:)

It works with motion activation - cascading lights Does not work - tried to get it work several times unfortunately stick with one color - does glow Well - save little plastic container that comes With it for the air freshener - I tossed it And have to put rolled up paper behind gel air freshener to keep from falling out - would Have give 5 stars if cascading lights worked.

The one I received has a defective motion sensor. The light sensor works but the unit stays on all night when the room is dark and never turns off. (Tried different things like taking the batteries back out and restarting but there is not much else you can try. The button on the unit is for changing light color or brightness as far as I can tell. ) If the light is on or the sun is up it does turn off. Probably not going to be worth replacing batteries all the time. Update: After receiving an email inquiring about my satisfaction with the GlowBowl I explained the problem I had with the one I had received. They sent me a new GlowBowl to replace the defective one and it's working great. Great customer service and the new GlowBowl turns off in the dark and when you enter the room the light comes on in the toilet. Pretty fun actually. Changing my review to 5 stars!

Cheaply made and usually stops working pretty soon after you start using it. If you just want one color, it will rarely stay on that color. The brightness button works for about a week. It’s to bad. When these first came out after being on Shark Tank, they were great and worked very well. They’ve cheapened up quite a bit. I loved this product and I seriously told everyone to get them. I sent them to friends and relatives bragging about how cool they were. I am still purchasing them, because the price now is 50% of what it use to be, but I’m still very disappointed how the quality has gone down. I love the idea of this product, and will continue to buy it, but not as cool gifts. I now buy it knowing it won’t last very long and I will have to throw it away much earlier than I use too. And one more thing, just because you need batteries to make it work, don’t expect to be able to change them and it will work again. This is definitely a “ one and done” product.
