absolutely perfect and works amazingly!! i am in love!

I have loved this album since it came out in 1994 and I wanted to get this Audiophile Vinyl version as I am tending more towards vinyl these days (except perhaps where SACD-2 channel only) is available) and I have many “Music on Vinyl Classic Records” so I know they are good quality. The musical content is superb of course and this vinyl pressing is really very good and is in some ways “quieter” than the cd version. My copy had very low background surface noise and no “clicks and pops” whatsoever. The album (predictably) is warmer and has more depth than its cd counterpart. I was however a bit surprised about some of the detail. I will try and explain what I mean: On the cd right at the beginning of “Hallelujah”, just before the music starts, you can clearly hear on cd just between centre stage and left speaker, some noise like guitar/amplifier buzz. It is quite clear on cd. On the Vinyl, it is missing or at least at a very, very low level. I think they must have tried to edit it out in the re mastering. I missed it being there. Also, at the end of the same track, almost at the end where he almost shouts “Hallelujah”, there is a post echo just to the left of the right speaker, very quiet, that almost sounds like a distortion of the word, as if it has digitally clipped. Having said all that though (and it doesn't really matter), I still prefer this vinyl version to the cd and the vocals on the quieter tracks are just beautiful. What a waste that he died so young. All in all a really good buy. As usual, next day before 1 delivery was spot on and it is packed very well. I would mention that while the outer cling film like seal is re-sealable (and they make a point of that in the on line description), there is a bar code label over the seal which you have to tear, so that spoils it a bit. No big deal I suppose. Superb album in both content and sound quality.

A testament to a pure artist , Grace is a superb piece of work , played and performed by a band and their talisman Jeff Buckley. Every track a classic, every note sung and played delivered with passion and emotion to the last. If you do nothing else today, at least play this album , sit back and relax .

The item has irived

When my 15 year old daughter came home from school and asked me, "have you heard of Jeff Buckley?", I said, "yes, I have. Haven't heard his music (apart from Hallelujah - with which she had previously won a Distinction in a singing festival), but I know his father better". "Well, we're studying him at school," was her reply. I immediately loaded up Spotify and listened to Grace, the only album recorded and released during his relatively short lifetime. It's like the lyrics have been torn from him, every word a deeper meaning, the voice hitting the notes with angst even in the faster, rockier tracks. The musicianship is brilliant, not overdone or over produced. Superb. Not an album to listen to if you're down, but to be listened to with amazement that such a diverse sound could come from a relatively young man with obvious talent. It seems so cruel that he should have been taken from us so early, aged only 30 - before he could leave us with more of his work. Everyone should have this in their collection if only to remind them what real music is - free of electrical trickery. This one I am going to buy immediately..... If you don't feel a shiver down your spine, well.......

As good as it ever was

I received the record one day after ordering, as delivered by Amazon. Apart from the item being packed in a much larger box so I had to collect from an Amazon counter instead of the Amazon Locker which is much closer, I have no other complaint. The sound quality is very good, although the vinyl feels a bit flimsy in hand, probably not the 180g which feels nicer. But generally a happy purchase.

Love it

This man did indeed die too young, tragically, he drowned in a swimming accident shortly after this album was released. But, this one work, is so transcendent that it deserves a place in the collection of anyone who truly loves music and understands its ability to move one's soul and emotions beyond the mundane life that one ordinarily lives. Every song on this album is a true gem which becomes more beautiful with each listening, as one is able to hear it more clearly, applying the jewelers loupe of one's ears to catch each nuance. I hardly know where to begin, so I'll start with the song that is my favorite on this album: a song which is rapidly becoming one of my favorites of all the music I've ever listened to - 'Hallelujah', written by Leonerd Cohen some time ago. I first heard this tune as part of the soundtrack of 'The Lord of War' The opening sound one hears is of Jeff sighing deeply before starting to sing with only an unaccompanied acoustic guitar melody that can only be described as haunting in its simplicity. The first words of the song: Well, I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the LORD But, you don't really care for music, do ya? Well, it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall and the major lift The baffled King composing, Hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah The religious references simply drip from this song as the acoustic guitar continues to echo in the background. From its overtly religious beginning the song moves into the story of a broken relationship with a lover who meant more than anyone in the singer's life. The heartbreak is so evident that he who can listen to this song without shedding at least a tear or two has no humanity left within him: Well, baby I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor Ya know, I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch Our love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Well, there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that do me. Do ya? But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving, too and every breath we drew was hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Maybe there's a God above But, all I've ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah This album is worth the price simply for this one song. But, the thing is that there are no weak songs on this CD, making it a bargain at any price. Beyond that, though, this is the type of thoughtful, caring, and insightful music upon which no price can really be placed: it is priceless, timeless. Jeff Buckley obviously made this album for the sheer love of his art. The craftsmanship and effort of the making shows through every note and line, every word, and every thought.
