Not much of a gamer, but this is really cool!
My kids got in the habit of asking me to take them to PHX VR every few weeks last year. It's a place where they have several different VR systems (including the PS VR) and software that can be played/purchased on an hourly basis. They really like the "Job Simulator" games, for which Playstation VR has a version. I don't usually spend this kind of money at Christmas time, but I made the exception this year and I am not disappointedThe PS VR is a high quality piece, as are all of the Sony products and accessories that I have used.. I would not call my kids or myself die-hard gamers. The kids spend a few hours per week playing LEGO games, Ratchet and Clank, or Kung0Fu Panda. Every once in a while, I will buy a game for myself. My favorites are Pinball (makes the PS4 worth the price right there for me) and EA Sports PGA, but I haven't touched the PS4 for a couple of months, that is, until we hooked up the VR set. This is cool! I am really impressed with the depth to which you feel immersed in these games / places. I have played several games and demos of VR games and every one of them is really cool. The creativity in the development impresses me also. For instance, I would have never thought that this would amount to more than one person playing at a time (we don't subscribe to online multi-player stuff), but there are a few games where people outside of the VR headset can play cooperatively or as an opponent to the person in the mask, and it is just as much fun to be in either of those positions. I would definitely consider it worth the price that I paid for it, and since the 2017 holiday season is over, it is likely to be available at a lesser cost to you if you are considering the purchase.I have used the headset to play VR, of course, but it also works for regular games or DVD/BlueRay movies. The screen in the headset mimics up to a 226 inch screen from about 8 feet away. It is a really cool experience. I played the pinball game in it the other day and, while you don't get a 360 degree tour of the pinball table, it is definitely a different experience that I would consider better than playing on TV. I also watched the concert movie, Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense in the headset the other night and that was also very cool.Another of the great features of this is that the TV doesn't need to be on when only one person is using the system. There is audio output for earbuds (included) or headphones built into the headset, so everything you need is in there. I was watching that movie when I couldn't sleep the other night and I had no fear of cranking up the volume and waking anyone else up because I was in, "virtually" a different world. The immersive experience is greater than I would have imagined before I tried it. Really cool to look anywhere and see content like that. Again, not much of a gamer, but this came with SkyRim and I tried that out one evening. Before playing, I had set a glass of water next to me so that I wouldn't have to get up. About 1.5 . hours later, when I was finished playing and putting the stuff away, I realized how thirsty I was. Since that glass was not in the same world as I thought I was in I completely forgot that it was there. You are certainly transported away from everything else when you put this on.Speaking of putting it away, we also purchased the charging and storage stand for the PS VR, and I am glad that I did. It keeps everything including my original two dual-shock controllers right there, nicely organized and displayed, and it keeps them charged up. I would consider that a must have add-on.I would recommend this purchase to anyone, big-time gamer or not. I work with a guy (a serious gamer) who has the Oculus system. He is really pleased with everything about it, and I am certain that it has more quality and options than the PS, but he also spent at least 4X what I did for everything he needs to go with that. Finally, there are several versions of the packaging of this product. I went with this version because it had the motion controllers and the camera in the box. I had nether of these but they are definitely must-haves in order to play certain games. Take a look at the options that you want/need and make a selection accordingly.I hope you enjoy yours as much as we are enjoying ours!

PSVR Just buy it. You won’t be disappointed.
PSVR is great for a lot of reasons: price, quality of games, along with a massive lineup of games due out this year exclusively for PlayStation. You also get a free PSVR game every month with your PS Plus subscription; I downloaded Rush of Blood for free in October before I even owned a PSVR. Awesome game btw. What I also like about the PSVR as opposed to other VR setups is that you can have friends over to play in your living room. Plus, everyone sees what you’re seeing through the VR on the TV. It’s a riot!! Which opens the door for some cool interactive “party” games to play with friends!! You can’t do that as easily if you’re VR is hooked up to your PC.Setup for the PSVR is simple af tooMy recommendations for games to buy first:1. SPARC - This is a fantastic VR Sports game. First of it’s kind too, I think. You get to play against opponents from all over the world. It’s like tennis and racket ball mixed inside the movie TRON. Sounds weird, but it’s best VR gaming experience I’ve had thus far. Get ready to get sweaty.2. EVE: Valkyrie Warzone - If you wanna fly around in spaceships and have some intense dogfights with your friends online. The buck stops here. Check out the demo for free before buying. I loved but it might be too much for some.3. RESIDENT EVIL 7 - Let me start by saying this IS THE BEST VR GAME out. It’s so well crafted and finely polished for VR. You’re gonna be absolutely terrified playing it. I found myself totally immersed, clutching my controller, carefully peaking around corners, and listening to anything creeping up behind me. Fantastic experience, a must buy in my opinion. If you don’t like your copy of Skyrim that came with the bundle (I know I didn’t) go trade it into GameStop for Resident Evil 7.4.Thumper - This game is hard to describe.. Race, rhythm, terrifyingly beautiful acid trip, visually stunning. Once you get sucked in, you won’t be able to blink.5. STATIK - If like puzzle games, look no further. You’ll be scratching your head playing this one, I can assure you. Very challenging.6. SUPERHOT - A brilliant puzzle game using Matrix style slow-mo action that makes you think about your moves very carefully as the game progresses.7. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood - Know someone who’s gets scared easily? Invite them over and throw them into the deep end. I laughed hysterically at my friends playing this one. A cheap thrill but quality fun! Guaranteed to scare the crap out of everyone. A rollercoaster ride from hell!!Skyrim VR is cool but it doesn’t work as well as I would have hoped. Really choppy for me, which gave me motion sickness. It’s a vast game, certainly the largest VR world to date but I just couldn’t enjoy navigating the world with out feeling sick. I’m sure others really enjoyed this game but it’s not for me.Hope this review was helpful.
