I’m a welder and fabricator at a structural steel shop. I’ve been in the trade for over 9 years now and I’ve used DeWalt, Bosch, Makita, and other grinders. I’ve always been intrigued by brushless tech in drills but never had a brushless grinder because I wasn’t sure they’d have the ‘umpf’ of a regular brushed motor. I’m here to tell you, this grinder exceeded my expectations. This grinder has smooth power. It’s smaller body makes for a comfortable grip and easy maneuverability. I may be grinding on a big beam or heavy wall tubing, then switch to doing fine detail weld finishing. This tool handles it all with aplomb. I was concerned the 8500rpm would be too slow but I have yet to bog it down and see any depreciable difference in power output. It’s so smooth I don’t even turn it down when doing fine detail work, only for safety when using a wire wheel. I cannot say enough about the quality of this tool. I could’ve gotten an 11 amp DeWalt for nearly half the price, (not variable speed.) The added electronic/speed controls and kickback prevention features are an added bonus. Final thought - if you’re looking for a new 4 1/2” grinder and can afford the expense, stop shopping around, don’t waste any more time comparing tools, and buy this grinder. I’m a convert. I’m a Metabo man now. You won’t be disappointed! It deserved all five stars from me.

I love it! That being said I'm not using it under harsh conditions or for mass quantities of stock removal. It maintains RPMs and I love that you can dial this thing up and down a good range of speeds. Perfect for what I'm doing. I'm a CNC machinist and I use the break some edges on some large parts and also some weld prep or clean up. Very happy

Used primarily for surface prep on concrete, lot of bevel cuts and precision removal of very hard concrete/coatings. The grinders with brushes get hot when we turn down the speed to control dust, these do not. Ever. We went from having to rotate grinders and still burning them out to each man having one and completing tasks with that grinder with no issues. Absolute beast, but balanced and quiet. Love these machines.

been using it for power carving. works great. Except there is one attatchment that i couldn't get to work on it but it'll work on my dewalt. Not sure if its my error, the attatchment, or the angle grinder.

We use these grinders in our fabrication shop. These grinders have a small diameter handle that allows them to be positioned easily for finishing. The adjustable speed allows to you slow the speed down and apply some pressure to smooth out our welds. Great product!

I was shocked to learn that it tops out at 8,000 RPM, far less than most grinders yet costing 4x as much. Such a strange design choice especially considering that they made it with a speed control. You have rare earth magnets saving a ton of energy, why not leverage that efficiency for more speed and power?? Especially as we are paying 4x as much for it. Well. At least the motor will outlast all the rest of the parts, so that's cool. The bright side is it's extremely lightweight and low profile giving the user more control and agility than any other grinder, so I will keep it on for detailing work. Not a complete waste of money but I question Hitachi's choices here.

Pues METABO HPT no tiene muy buena fama por ser HITACHI pero en pruebas iniciales se comporta bien. Me encanta la ergonomía, es el esmeril de botón de tecla mas cómodo que he usado, la función de vel variable es magnifica: me hubiese gustado que tuviera mas potencia pero creo que esta bien para usarlo en acabados y cortes fáciles. Algo que no me gusto es que llego con el resorte del seguro de la cubierta protectora como salido, tuve que acomodarlo y manipularlo para que quedara firme: pensé mucho en quedarme el esmeril por ese detalle ya que estoy acostumbrado al resorte firme de los BOSCH y este es solo un alambre en espiral pero a fin de cuentas decidí que en este caso privilegiaría la ergonomía sobre ese detalle que mas bien parece error de diseño en la herramienta: en fin vamos a ver como se comporta en mis tareas que no son de alta demanda en el día a día sino esporádicas

Good product with 6 different speeds for different applications. I would recommend this product for big job applications.
