Gunson G4074 Colortune Single Plug Kit 14mm

I bought this because as a novice, after doing online research, I was feeling somewhat intimidated about tuning the carbs on my MGB roadster and I thought that this would provide me with an "easy" solution. And it did :) It seems that it is a bit of a "Marmite" product that you either hate or love. More experienced vintage car enthusiasts claim that it is inaccurate and unnecessary while other, probably less experienced owners, love it for its simplicity. I am a believer. It is incredibly easy to use and allowed me to tune my carbs to a significantly better state quickly and without stress. As a side benefit, it also provides you with the pretty cool opportunity to actually see the bang going on inside your engine! :) Remember that if you have a multi-carb engine, you will need to use this on one cylinder being fed by EACH of the carbs One caveat. The colortune is only an indication of fuel/air mixture combustion and therefore, in my opinion, does not replace a full carb tuning an balancing process. It does however give you the opportunity to easily get a close approximation to improve your ignition burn and running. In my case it also removed the vooodoo factor and made me more confident to then learn to fully tune the carbs on my car.

As above it works well and does it's job. I had one back in the 80s and this is just not the same quality the plastic parts are so much thinner and cheap to look at and feel I don't expect it to last as long as my old one before I lost it. Shame as it does deserve a 5 star rating but I suppose Colour tune will more than likely say they are cutting down on the plastic to be environmental.

have had one of these yaers ago but have mislaid it - it will not work on an engine without it being at tickover - so would not do what I needed ( set up a small generator which runs at 3000rpm). Have used this type of product on many petrol engined cars in the past and it has paid for itself many times over.

Gave my old one to a relative in the Isle of Man, it's still going strong but I needed one to set up the carbs on my new classic bike. Everything is much like the old, but with a few minor improvements, like the tool for retrieving the 'hot' working end after the jobs done. Great for any vehicle with adjustment that can be made to fuelling, simple to use and the results are great on vehicles that weren't properly set up. Recommended for DIY people.

I own a 1973 car that I maintain myself. I had been having a terrible time getting it started, and I didn't know if the problem was electrical, fuel or something else. I checked the colour of the spark plugs and knew it was running a bit rich, and had even tried to adjust the carbs using trial and error. I probably made things worse. With this tool, I had the twin carbs set up and the car running sweetly in a couple of hours. The difficulty starting has vanished. I also seemed to have fixed a problem that was causing a loss of power above 70 mph, which I had assumed was a problem with the distributor, but obviously not! If you have twin carbs, get the Gunson carb balancing kit too, all suggestions in the Haynes manual about balancing carbs without actually measuring the air flow are rubbish.

The Colortune sparkplug did exactly as the advertising said. While a little fiddly to instal when the sparkplug hole is recessed in a hot head (not the plugs fault) it's real value is that enabled an assessment of the mixture on each plug that you can't get with a lambda probe in the exhaust outlet. I found viewing the flame quite easy with the car in a shaded location. I'm very pleased with the plug and will use it in all future tuning of the engine.

Like it says, this is the most useful tool you've never heard about. It is just as necessary as a timing light. It takes the guesswork and inference out of adjusting carburetors, not just the mixture but also things like the accelerator pump shot, mixture over different rpm ranges, and so on. Instead of inferring the best settings for your carbs by doing a grid search over different sizes, and tons of road testing, this tool allows you to observe the mixture with a decent degree of precision so you can directly observe mixture patterns. I used this to adjust my SU44 dual carbs, then put it on my 22R Weber for fun, and found out that the Redline accelerator pump shot is WAY too big, and is responsible for the rich condition on that carb. There is no other way to determine an accelerator pump issue like that. This tool is the next best thing to a code reader and O2 sensor.

Buon prodotto per fare la carburazione. Ti permette di effettuare le regolazioni necessarie e capire bene o male in che condizioni è il motore. Facile nell'utilizzo. Io l'ho usato per carburare una 500 d'epoca.

Article vraiment pratique le réglage de la richesse carburation est au top, bon réglage = économie , facile d'emploi. Des vidéos concernant cette bougie est disponible sur youtube, bien pratique.

Ich kann nur sagen das diese tolle Glas Zündkerze super funktioniert, man kann die Verbrennung wunderbar sehen und auch die Veränderung wenn man das Gemisch am Vergaser einstellt so das die Flamme nicht mehr gelb sondern schön blau wird. Kann es nur empfehlen habe sie bei einer Dnepr und eine Harley Davidson benutzt und es hat hervorragend funktioniert so das die Zündkerze nach der Probefahrt schön rehbraun war.
