Book in good condition and arrived promptly as promised.Part of series I'm reading to delight ed to complete set.

The a is a glass makers daughter, one who's family have been cheated out of a lot of money. Worst still the scoundrel that stole their money cheated Thea of her heart. Now her brother is missing and Thea is beyond desperate. When haughty Vernon Beaucamp turns up looking for her brother Daniel, she dresses as a boy to follow him. Together they must find Daniel as their enquires lead them to believe he is in grave danger. This is part of a series but I read it as a standalone book. The story trots along at a good pace and the characters are well drawn. I was captivated by the story and the feisty heroine. I would highly recommend a read.

I always enjoy Janice's books and this one was lovely. It was good to see Vernon step out from under his brother's shadow and find out just how capable he was himself. Throw in a feisty heroine and lots of sexual tension and you have a terrific read.

If you could see the smile on my face I don't think I'd need to write this review! This is the second in Janice Preston's Beauchamp series and features, Vernon, Leo's brother whom we met in the first book. I really loved the glimpse we got of him in the first one, but his own story gave us so much more. Vernon is the younger brother, who feels he has no place in the family. He's known as the happy go lucky, rakish chappy without a care in the world. But he's growing tired of feeling like the odd one out with no true purpose in his life. So when a letter arrives requesting his brother's help, Vernon offers himself up in his place. This is where it gets exciting because once Vernon arrives he meets Thea. Thea is bloody brilliant! She has her prejudices against the privileged highborn and her first meeting with Vernon is a real clash. But she'll do anything to find her brother Daniel, who has gone missing. Vernon agrees to help find him, but Thea has other ideas, she won't be left behind. Even if that means she has to dress as a boy and tag along after him. This leads to some hilarious antics. I'll say wedding tackle and leave it at that... Overall this was a lovely romance between an unlikely couple. They made my heart soar. Just thinking about them.. *sigh* I utterly loved it and devoured it in a day. Janice Preston has become like part of my family over the last week or so, because I'm never without one of her books in my hand!

Lord Vernon Beauchamp!!!!! Need I say more??? I fell in love with him in 'Cinderella and the Duke,' and there was a very good reason! He is wonderful! Thea is a fantastic leading lady too! I read it in 2 days, I couldn't put it down! Can you tell how excited I am by all the exclamation marks? :p Highly, highly recommend it! - last one I promise.

Janice Preston strikes again! Every time I read one of her titles, I am captivated by her characters, plot and lyrical language. Scandal and Miss Markham is lovely from start to finish. I found myself wanting to be the lovely Dorothea Markham, bold and determined in the face of the norms of Regency society. The story was made even more interesting to me as it is set in Worcestershire. Loved the hero, Vernon and indeed everything about the book.

In the second book of the Beauchamp Betrothals, Vernon meets Theadora , who is a daughter of a manufacturer of Crystal . In this Vernon is checking in to talk with Thea's brother Daniel who has written to his brother, Leo in connection with their cousin. When meeting Vernon, Thea couldn't understand why her brother would write to them and not her. So,Vernon goes an try to find Daniel but didn't reckon on Thea following him. In this book, Janice has all the high jinks that can happen when one is trying to hide that they're following and in disguise from a man that before long falls in love with. Then you have the other, knowing he doesn't have much to go on in doing out where Daniel has disappeared but then singing out that even though his follower was helpful but was also Thea. What was a gentleman to do?? Janice has written a wonderful story of two people that were opposites but before long....we're made for each other. I really loved how Janice brought Vernon and Thea together and how the storyline worked out it was an obstacle course of goodies in more ways that still has a happily ever after 💕

Very much enjoyed Vernon and Thea's story! A bit of mystery and action and a sweet love story, too. Well written and fast paced. On to read the last in this series!

I like the Beauchamp series books by this author and will read the rest when they come out.
