Buy Home Plumbing Manual (New Ed): The complete step-by-step guide Reprint by Andy Blackwell (ISBN: 9780857338174) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Great book for the confident DIY plumber - Bought a house and had plumbers in to quote for full refit of a [first] house I had just bought. Quotes were silly, and being a trained engineer asked myself...how hard can it be. Bought several books, and even now I still just look at this out of curiosity. Was great, helped me design good supply circuits and drainage considerations (elevation, air traps, sewerage) etc. all within regulations - and 12 months on I have had no leaks at all from my own work. (The heating installers work is a different story...) In summary: This book was absolutely perfect for somebody with DIY confidence and ability but their knowledge/skill isn't quite there. Would recommend it above any of the other myriad of plumbing books I bought at the same time. Review: A really useful and well illustrated book - Perfect for someone - like me - who has always avoided plumbing jobs when doing DIY. The book is extremely well illustrated, clearly laid out and everything is explained in simple terms. The book also takes the format of tackling various plumbing jobs and provides a step by step explanation (with photos) as to how to complete them. Example: How to install an outside garden tap starting from internal plumbing. If you want to start learning basic plumbing then this is the book to buy. Highly recommended

Good overview, plus you'll know the questions to ask.
The scope of the book is wide, covering all types of CH and HW, plus the fashionable nod to renewables. So the depth isn't great on any one topic, but there's enough here to let you avoid and prepare for emergencies and do the basics of fitting new taps etc. and gauge if you can take on a DIY job. The book is very clear that boilers must be left to the so-called 'professionals' who've paid their subs to Gas Safe. Also, a read through should help you determine when a wide-boy plumber is BSing you on what needs to be done.

Easy to read...Job done!
This book is a must if you think you can't do plumbing. So easy to read, brilliantly illustrated and a step by step guide for the complete novice. Written with accuracy and humorous wit. Not knowing the difference between a tap and stopcock, I successfully repaired a leaking outside tap thanks to this book by replacing the expansion nuts and olives. Fantastic purchase...now what else can I repair!

Pretty basic
Contains some good, basic information if you can manage to wade through all the fairly lame attempts at humour. It's a book about plumbing, it doesn't need to be exciting. It just needs to contain clear, detailed and understandable information and lots of it.

Absouletly the worst plumbing book I owned. I owned 9 other plumbing books, this is by far extremely really disappointing. Cons. 1. This book is for people living in the United Kingdom. The reference is in metric. The plumbing ideas and design is based on UK plumbing. 2. The pictures taken were really small hard to determine what it is. 3. Literally no useful information on how to install shower or tub. The method of install a tub is extremely strange. For example, one needs to install legs for the tub. In North America, almost all the acrylic tub will have a leg. 4. It provided information about plastic speed press (similar to shark bite push fit but it is plastic. Home Depot or Lowe does not sell plastic push fit. They should discuss about shark bite push fit instead as this is much more common. 5. Zero information on drain waste vent. This is the pillar of all plumbing. Drain waste vent is really important in new bathroom, kitchen, washer, sink plumbing. One needs to have DWV understanding in order to tackle plumbing. 6. The arrangement of this book is extremely confusing and not organize at all. As previously discusssed before I owned 9 other plumbing books and they are much more organized than this book. 7. Don’t buy this book. It Is not worth the money. Overall, if you are Do It Yourselfer and wants good plumbing books. I recommend you buy the following plumbing books instead. 1. Black and decker plumbing 3rd edition. 2. Black and decker plumbing 7th edition. 3. Stanley complete 2nd edition. 4. Taunton Plumbing complete. 5. Plumbing a house -Peter Hemp 6. Installing and repairing fixture - Peter Hemp 7. Creative Ultimate guide Plumbing
