This is a well written collection of animal stories from around the world, written in an engaging style. Children love reading, or being read to, these timeless tales. This is just one book in a whole collection of short stories by this author, all with different themes. Thoroughly recommended for reading aloud or for just immersing yourself in engaging stories.

Beautiful book, good length stories for bedtime for my 4-year-old son though I would recommend pre-reading for younger kids as some of the stories touch on themes you may not want to introduce (much less explain during a "But why?" phase!) at bedtime e.g. death, ghosts, spirit world etc We also really like that the stories are grouped into continents so you get a feel for the traditional storytelling of each region.

Lovely illustrated book which my grandson enjoyed

Bought this for my two sons, I wanted something that we could pick up every night and read together before bed. My kids are aged 6 and 9, this works really nicely, they love the natural world. They love the illustrations and design of the book, we're learning about parts of the world which fits well since we can choose stories from different continents. I'm not a massive stickler for paper & printing quality but actually I noticed that this wasn't as luxurious as I had expected it to be. Still a really lovely book but one that I will pass on to friends after rather than keeping if it had been printed better.

A great array of stories from all around the world giving your child a cultural understanding of varied animals and the stories behind their characteristics and habits. My son couldn't wait to go to bed so he could here another story of an animal from different parts of the world! Caution, some stories are a bit shocking so be wary on what you read and be ready to explain as to why it happened. Some are sad, funny and very interesting. But all and all one or two stories a night will leave your child with very imaginative dreams. A great buy and would highly recommend.

Bought for 3 year old granddaughter. It’s a really nice book full of lovely colourful pictures . Well worth the cost

I’m glad this book includes heritage cultural stories from around the world and that there were many I’ve yet heard of. My family enjoys hearing stories like these. The art is enticing and keeps their attention while they listen.
